I wish that Konami would sublicense the series to Treasure. Apparently, members of Treasure who were once members of Konami were responsible for the NES games.

Hoping for more down to earth, hardcore, back to basics gaming like what was considered normal back in the day? I don't blame you.

Yeah, and it could have character development a la Guardian Heroes. It's a good system.

I've never played gaurdian heros, how did the character development work in that game?

Well, I meant the one for GBA. Basically you beat people up and pick up stuff, then at the end of the level, you can upgrade your abilities with that stuff. There's only so much stuff in the game, so you can't get overpowered. I may prefer a more Metroid-like character development system, though, now that I think about it.

Isn't that basically Circle of the Moon minus the experience points?

I'd personally love to see another straight action/platformer. No RPG elements. No ridiculous amount of items to hunt for. Just whip and jump, repeat. Kill undead until they die to death.

That's a really good idea. Maybe they could take a cue from Mega Man Zero's chip collecting system (except rather than chips, you pick up more Castlevania-ish containers). You collect the containers on each level and then find out what you got at the end of the level. Perhaps your skills could increase based on a ranking system as well. We could have the best of both worlds: Character building from the Castleroids and the level based platforming from the originals.

Yeah, I actually liked the structure of the MMZ games. That would work pretty good.
