After being put off Circle of the moon by the relentless Dracula until i beat him a month later whan i decided to give it a try once again, i came to the conclusion that not only is this the hardest of the Metroidvanias, but also this game's Dracula's 2nd form is the toughest SOB in castlevania boss battles. Seriously i just felt this game was just to unfair to the players, the controls are rather awkward not bad just that it takes a little to get used to. But the big prize goes to dracula's second form, his first form was a joke i was like ok an easy final boss for a very hard game. but then i walked through the portal, and got hit twice by the metoers the he did his ram attack and it was over i was like, O_o wtf?!!!!!! Order of Ecclessia is like HOD in difficulty when compared to this game which just delivers a kick right in your balls when ever you play it.

sadly I didn't really find his 2nd form hard in a fun way. just kinda cheap. though he's alot easier if you have the summon card (the one that does damage and makes you invicible for a short time, not the familiar summoning card)

believe me even with the sumon card he is still a tough SOB, while he is on the ramming phase, is when i usually use  the thunderbird, but once i remember he was in hi eye form, I use the thunderbird summon, just form him to trnsform back after like 2 hits, my timing could not be worst he did the ram just i was going out of the summon so the summon finished just in time for him to ram me and kill me rightaway

I used to use thunderbird whenever he charged but then I remembered I had the super jump. but you're right. he's still hard to beat compared to many of his other incarnations.

You definitely need the unicorn card for this battle. I actually really liked circle of the moon. Aside from the animations, I loved the graphics' darkness (assuming you're playing on an SP/DS). Ever since Harmony the graphics have lost their dark values, though Ecclesia was a step in the right direction. The music in Circle I also loved, CV3 remixes rule!

I never found CotM so hard as ppl said, maybe I`m just getting older bc OoE is pry quite hard. I mean I do get kill.

CotM is a GREAT game for me, I love the card system, even thus is not to like by a lot of CV fans.

Dracula was not a big deal for me bc when I got there i was around lvl 76 (I always get all the drop before finishing the game, which give quite a lot of EXP killing enemies) Also like Chaps said, use Unicorn (with Pluto, I think this is what Dejiko is talking about), Cockatrice and he would be history :P

Enjoy..

and HI FREDDY!!! :D

I went through the area with poisoned water without purifying it. after I beat that area and went to another one I found the thing that purified the water =( I also beat dracula without the unicorn card.

well i was around leve 42 when i first gave dracula a try a nd after getting all the cards except for black dog and unicorn since i am scared of the arena, yea i was around level 45 or 46 the second time, it took me like 10 tries but ultimately i won, just the fact that healing is next to impossible on boss battles and the whole game besides save points and the next to useless potions, makes this game  #1 in difficulty, yes i did not think OoE was as hard as some people said. COTM has by far the toughest and also best final boss battle in all metroidvanias, add to that the most epic Boss music for Dracula.

Oh yea and Hi Chang!!!!! and everyone else too i was away for quite a while

A little update on my comparing all final bosses for the metroidvanias, yea so i went through all the Ds vanias, final bosses, and only soma from julius mode seems to be close to COTM's dracula in toughness, the the GBA games, HOD was a cakewalk compared to COTM, AOS's very own chaos was at least tougher than HOD's dracula but not close to COTM, SOTN is actually at the same level of aria i would say, COTM's Dracula is still faaaar more difficult, the only one who gave me a bigger trouble was probably Curse of Darkness dracula, of course i mean his 2nd form, it took me a lot of tries as Hector as it seems you can never carry enough healling items in this game, and in trevor mode i quit after the first 10 tries. Wow it seems only a 3D game was able to match COTM, a dracula that is hard in a very unfunny way.

And what of Ecclesia's Dracula? He tends to do a very good job of being incredibly hard if you don't have the rape-o-matic setup

As with nearly all the bosses in Ecclesia, once you get the strategy down, he becomes pretty easy.

I'd have to agree with that. it took me 5 tries to beat dracula the first time in OoE. then when I got to him on hard mode I beat him on my first try =/

Well Dracula from OoE was pretty tought i admit it, specially the fact that the first time you fight him most people including me didn't know that his Demonic Megido was like OMG PWNGE, and i'm sure more than one person didn't know dominus had to be used at that moment myself included *cough* giantenemycrab *cough*.

Ecclesia's Dracula is pretty damn hard if you don't have Volaticus, but he's not cheap in the same way as CotM's Dracula.

it's not the most loved CV but... I find PoR's dracula memorable, it was not an ''impossible'' challenge but still it was surprising since he f-ing teamed up with death, it was the most ''wtf'' moment of the game haha

yea I'll admit that the battle with Dracula in PoR was very fun. but when it comes to brutallity and cheapness, COTM is just too much

I actually needed to use items to replish my health...

chang_1910

I am a fan of the card system as well. Although, I would have to say the Dracula fight in Dracula X was the most difficult of all the boss fights. Mainly because they make you fight him on pillars and if you get hit you are auto-pwned. I put CotM down to play OoE for two reasons (I plan to finish after OoE).

1. The Battle Arena is just plain rediculous! I mean wtf!  No save and no way out other than the areas you can slide under, but then you have to start the whole thing over.

2. The second form of Dracula. Need I say more.....

Oh well, if the end was not challenging I guess it would be dissapointing. But where is the line drawn between challenging and being cheap. I have to say they were pretty relentless with the end of CotM....

 I did the same thing.

That final battle in CotM was the toughest fight I have had in any metroidvania. I think I died about 15 times before defeating him.

So, I am back on CotM now and I played all the way through the Battle Arena to the last enemy....Devil! And OMG, he totally fried me, real quick like! I will get through it one day. I farmed 99 potions and it is still really tough to get through it all. I really don't want to farm 99 high potions, but I guess I will if I have to....

It took a few days to farm the potions. I found an area where there is a hidden area, but when you walk out of the room the skeleton that drops the item is right there. So it wasn't that bad, just a lot of running back and forth. I am somewhere in the 50's as far as lvl. I am starting to grow this love/hate relationship with CotM. I am determined to beat it before I play Aria of Sorrow....

lol, you know, CotM just gets better when you finish it... it has like a different new game code for every time you finish it (so, if you ever wondered why it has all those save slots... now you know why :) ) My favorite new game was the "Magician"; you begin with all cards and your stats are all shifted to favor magic. Drac was SO much fun: if you got hit once or twice it's bye bye to Nathan hahaha.

It sounds like the hard work will be worth it then. After I finish all the CV's I plan to go back and play through with the other characters. I have played through all the classic console versions including PSOne, PoR, OoE, and most of CotM (obviously) and Curse Of Darkness. I decided to go on a CV spectacular/game hike a few months ago. I got hooked again after I played through PoR, I had forgot how good the CV series is. Of course I played through many other games in my video game career, but CV seems to stick to me the most even after all the other good games out there. CV has always been consistent as far as format and I love that. They make changes to each, but they are all good changes in my opinion. I have never played a CV game and said "Damn, that game really sucked!". I really like all the old ones too, even though some of them are pretty hard. CV is really the only game series (multi-platform too) other than Mario that I fell in love with. :D

Just wanted to try and revive this thread again. I think there were good conversations here, but we lost it somewhere in the mix of things. Lately I have put down CotM and played through almost all of HoD. I only have a couple more parts/pieces of Dracula to get and the last boss fight with Dracula. I am assuming that I have to get all of the body parts before I can fight him in Castle B to get the best ending. Please help!

no... you don't get them by defeating the bosses, you gotta find them ''hidden'' throughout the castle, i think this faq will help, just search the part you wanna find and figure out with the faq and the map where is it :)
