NEW DS game. Updated Oct 27

AS part of an interview with Igarashi - posted in the CV: Dracula X Chronicles thread (it also talk about a rebuilt version of Maria for this game, be sure to read that, is awesome) - Igarashi reveals TWO new games... no remakes... TWO NEW GAMES!!!!!

Today in our interview with Koji Igarashi (which we`ll be posting the full trascript of in the coming days) Konami`s Igarashi divulged to Game Informer Online that he already knows which plataform his next castlevania games will appear on. His next Castlevania project will be for Nntendo DS and will not be a remake like Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and will be all new. This game is currently well into development, however, when it will actually shown is unknow. However, if history repeats itself, Castlevania titles are always revealed in North America - and usually at the Spring Gamers Day.

Considering it's been quite a while since Konami has released a true home-console version of Castlevania, it's no surprise that after the next DS project Igarashi plans on releasing a new Castlevania title on the Xbox 360, and possibly the PlayStation 3. That is, if PlayStation 3 sales pick up. Also, whether it will be 3D, much like the last few PS2 titles, is also undermined at this time. It looks like Igarashi-san may want to try his hand at finally making a 2D version of Castlevania.

Thus it is not know when it would release we can guess is 2009 spring..and if sooner (2008 spring...) *hysterical voice*.. :shock:

Broddan, it would be cool if the new CV gsme going to console were 2D however, I dont see that happening due to the fact that they would be wasting the vast potential of the gamining console they place it on.

All these clues really do point to a new Castlevania. Could this be the long-rumoured online Castlevania. Better see next months NPower.


As it was revealed last E3, a new Castlevania for the DS with Wi-Fi usage was already at that time in development.

so.... no more news about this....

i guess we would have to wait until gameinformer publish their transcript> i`m starting to get suspicion that this may be just a rumor. Iga was in leipzig and is weird that he did not say anyting to any other game source/site. Kotaku, GS, IGN has no news about this :(

I wish they wouldn't think that way, it would be really nice to see a new 2D CV on a console again. It's almost as if people think 2D CV isn't good enough for a home console, which is not true because Symphony is one of the best PS1 games ever made!

but think of what you just said...for the PS1. How old is the PS1? The problem is people expect Castlevania games to be 2D now and games for nextgen consoles (Wii, 360, and PS3) to be 3D. I wonder how this is gonna be played out.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix...just how many titles are they going to add onto that...geez. and whats the point of 1080p graphics if they are going to remain with the SNES style...bah. A debate for another time i suppose.

Yeah, there are a few perks to getting a 360 but I think I will still stick with a Wii (after I receive my new laptop Asus G2 =P).

we just had the chance to talk to Koji Igarashi during an Games Convention interview and asked him about the future of Castlevania on handhelds.

His translator told us that he is working on a new DS Castlevania and after the PSP version will be released he want's to see how successfull it will be. If the sales are good, a further PSP title would be something to think about.

The full interview will be released soon on PlaystationPortable.de but only in German.

So we can still hope taht is not just a rumor :D

not another PSP title... i almost hope Dracula X Chronicles sells poorly so they dont make another CV for PSP. but working on a new DS title. now thats GOOD. i cant wait to hear more about it and see some screenshots. just the fact that its gunna be new, and its 'well into development' and for DS... all good news. :D

btw chang, what color DS will you get?

New DS game confirmed by IGA and he would start working on it as soon as he finish with Dracual X chronicles :D

1UP: When are we going to see the next Castlevania for DS?

IGA: The crew in charge of the previous DS games is still alive, but at the moment I've been focusing on the PSP game. Sometime after the PSP version released, I'll be able to talk about the next game.

1UP: But that will be DS?

IGA: Yes.

GI: So your new Nintendo DS project, would it be a port of The Dracula X Chronicles or an all new game?

Igarashi: I would like to create something new, not a simple conversion. Simple conversion titles might be better served by the Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. I think I'll do something new for the DS.

on the one hand: a new DS cv is always a good idea and i hope it comes out soon so that i can forget how pathetic my life is for a while :P

on the other hand: ok is iga like allergic to nintendos home consoles or something? why wont he make a cv on the wii or gamecube? i swear im going to send a howler! (for those who dont know what that is go ask a harry potter fan)

IGA has to look at recent history with console releases and Nintendo hasnt fared so well. Ever since the Virtual Boy flop, they have been behind the power curve being in the shadows of Sony and then Microsoft. "Is it good for business," is what he has to ask himself. Hopefully the world wide sales numbers (showing the Wii on top) will be enough of a push for him to consider Nintendo again.

Nintendo slipped even before disc based systems. The N64 was a remarkably well designed pithole. While it did get some great games, it lost a few 3rd party companies (i.e. Squaresoft) due to it being cartridge. I don't think the transition to disc was a bad idea, infact it was their best idea. However they moved too late. If the N64 was a disc-based system, I do believe that Nintendo would be doing a lot better than it is now, since Squaresoft wouldn't have moved to the PSX due to it being cheaper to make FFVII on it. All in all, I believe Nintendo has been too slow with following the pace of gaming, thus they've gone "casual" as they recently announced, no longer trying to race with Sony or Microsoft.

Eventually I feel that Nintendo will be the next Sega, the only question is how long it will take. While Nintendo does have a great foothold in the handheld race, Sony is quickly catching up with the amount of quality games that will push gamers to purchase their powerhouse of a system. I do support Nintendo, but their financial decisions as of late have been ill-planned.

i`m lost... do not know why you guys say that the nintendo is going down.. or not doing well... imo.. thx god then that is not, bc i have like 15 games i want, if it where going better poor me :lol:

well.... IGA said that the game is well into develope and maybe.... just maybe we can see someting about it in TGS (daydreaming) so.....

ok how can you call a system that had super mario 64, goldeneye, ocarina of time, super smash bros.. starfox 64, perfect dark, blast corps, diddy kong racing, yoshis story,and lots of other great titles a bad decision? im sorry all the ps1 had was vincent in ffVII, daristalkers and the marvel vs. series, vampire hunter D, armored core, crash bandicootand if you live in japan gradius gaiden. and most of the games i like on xbox i can just get for pc (stubbs, pyschonauts, armed and dangerous) so while you may be able to play music and movies andwhateverelse on the other next gen consoles, sony and microsoft just dont have the games, whichshould be thebiggest reasonforpicking a console.

oh and ninitendo defintinely isnt all causal. ever playtwilight princess or metroid prime 3? or looked at super mario galaxy orsnash bros. brawl?

but if there is one thing i know from expierence isanything that is isntthe norm will be looked down upon. im glad nintendois breaking the mold. instead of justslight graphic upgradesnintendo is challengingus to try something different. all sony and microsoft wanna do is point and laugh at nintendo while offering up a bunch of overhyped (halo)and been there done that games (whatever bland stuff sony has on the PS3)

1. All consoles have there pro and cons.

2. CV has being in pretty much all system.

3. This is a CV union. no a sony/nintendo/xbox. We love them all as long as they give us CV games (at least inside here)

IGA Confirmed the new DS CV game.. this time refering to a future publish announcement
