In the last battle, Castlevania 3 and Super CV4 duked it out in a neck to neck battle. It was only by pure conspiracy theory that Trevor managed to pull ahead by a single vote, securing him into the second rounds. Now, Simon has one last chance to get a second game in the running, but he's going up against Ryu-Richter, Maria Belmont and the fabled Rondo of Blood.
The rules are the same. I'll list off a brief summary and my personal takes on the game, and you lot can all vote for your favorite. Feel free to post opinions as you wish, or to rebuttle opinions, or whatever. Just keep it clean. After this is over, I think I'll also host a Symphony of the Trite (title credit to the Bonus Level video)
First game to get 7 votes wins, or which ever one has the most votes after 3 days wins
I'll be doing this in (almost) chronological order, skipping Haunted Castle, Vampire Killer, Order of Shadows and NitM. Some games have been moved around slightly to have fan favorites duking it out.

Now, on with the show.
In the Blue Corner, we have...Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
The Facts: When Rondo of Blood was released in japan, it was impatiently awaited by americans. Sadly, they would have to wait over a decade to get their hands on it, but thats a story for the final match. Rondo features two characters and the most in-depth plot yet. Richter Belmont is the main character, playing like a ****c belmont, but introducing a character-exclusive Backflip and the now widespread Item crashes. He is also the first Belmont to not have upgradeable whips. Also playable is Maria Renarde, the first of the new generation of characters. With double jumps, a slide, and animal friends, she is a completely different character. The heroes must rescue several villagers, and travel through 8 stages, four of which have an alternate version, and finally confront Dracula, as per normal. This game is also the origin of many enemy sprites, including the blasted Skeletons. Its widely hailed as the easiest of the old games, as well as the last of the old series, and often considered one of the best, although many argue this is because of the nearly fabled status it gained. After all, it used to cost upwards of 500 to get your hands on a copy and console to play it.
IMO: A fun game, no doubt, but I always felt it was lacking something. Maria is a little too floaty and powerful, but Richter is the standard manly man Belmont, and controls like it. With definite challenges and easy parts, this is a game to be remembered in the series. Unfortunately, it introduced anime into the series, which thankfully would not be seen for over a decade, but it also introduced Ryu-Richter, much to endless amusment. Overall, a strong game, but not exactly worthy of the fame and legend its developed.
Is that...Buckingham Palace?
And in the Red Corner, we have...Castlevania Chronicles (X68000)
The Facts: Simon returns yet again, this time for the PSX in a remake of a remake. Originally, Castlevania X68000 was for the personal computer of the same name, and it was, well...iffy. It was meant to be a remake of CV1, and it held true in many ways, but the visuals were inferior to the SNES remake, and the new stages were often complained about. When the PSX version came along, introducing the redesigned Simon, the visuals took a bump up and added some CGI, but overall, it retained its curse of being an overall bad remake. Although it has some fans, the game is overall considered but a sidenote to the series.
IMO:Well...I cant comment on the gameplay itself, having never played. The game does feature the Kojima redesign, which is overall nice, but goddamn, I can't get over the amount of fur Simon has. Its kinda weird. It does look nice on the PSX, but overall, it seems rather bland and underinspired. On the bright side, however, it does have a large soundtrack and some new stages which are nice, but again, I can't comment on them.
