Yeah the original is my fav but Hard Corps kicks the most ass and is probably the best of the series. Contra III probably has the best soundtrack but then again Hard Corps comes close.

Yeah I like Contra SS more than Neo Contra for the simple fact that its more challenging. I also like Contra:Hard Corps a lot. The last level on Contra:SS looks crazy. And the last boss kind of looks Frieza from DBZ.
