Devising a new Union stat- Measured Union Activity

Measured Union Activity is a stat I think we should all decide on to decide the activity of a union. Some unions have thousands upon thousands of members, and are active, but not as much as a union that has 400 members, and that should be resolved. I think we should start out with this formula:

Union Posts+ Union Views/ Total Members

If there's anything incorrect about that, or something you'd like to add, let me know. Meanwhile, I'll be having fun playing with this.

EDIT- My union had a MUA of 132.76, and I'm trying to see what the norm. is for most unions.

that is a pretty nifty formula. Club Whatever MUA is 116.3

HINT: To avoid confusing people, put union posts + union views in Parentheses like this:

(Union Posts+ Union Views) / Total Members

my fault, and I also screwed up here, because I realized that unions will no matter what have more posts with age, so I'll change the formula to:

(Union Posts + Union Views) / (Total Members + Days as a Union)

I think this is a suitable formula, and what's your union's score for this? Mine is... 115.33.

Soldiers of Wii = 13.88 (Once was active, it got to level 8, so it's on top of the list when you look for Wii unions, which means we still get new members joining each week even though it's near-dead)

This is still affected by averages, it's not going to show current activity, just the average over the unions lifespan.

I think it's a bit hard to say total members, cos not all views are from members...

But, nice way of summing it up, anyways...

well, that wasn't what I was aiming for, that's why it's called Measured Union Activity. Anyway here are a few more unions that I measured:

Union Leader Council- 107.11

Club Whatever- 104.76

Game Designers Universe- 60.75

Gamespot User Fellowship Union- 1251.10(GASP!)

Graphic Studio: 478.78

Ok, thats cool. I just wanted to take it to Site Enhancements so they might do something about it and use it in Unions V2, i think its something which would work. Also, i was thinking about doing a Top 25 kind of thing maybe once a month.

well, top 25 would be a bit tricky for this sort of thing, but I was planning on putting it on site enhancements myself.

I'm not really sure what you want me to explain...it's right there. And Ultrazero, total union posts should be shown on your favorite boards if you have any.

By union posts you mean TOTAL UNION posts? If so how can you check?UltraZero

Well the only way i know of is by adding that union board to your favorites and then opening up the forums tab at the top, it shows you the amount of posts it has.

The MUA for the World Wrestling Everything union is (rounded off to) 277 as of Thursday, March 13, 2008 @ 1:53am CT.

This dosen't show union activity, it's shows overall union activity...

As much as I would LOVE to say that we are among the most active Unions, we are not. Sure, we have good activity, but we average about 15-20 posts a day. :\

I would say that this is a bit flawed and that there is no real way to measure activity. But, not a bad idea.

329 isn't bad.

But the number get so much lower when your an old union.

15-20 posts is not bad for a union at the moment. Most unions have less, some can be happy with 10 each day. If I were a nintendo fan I would join and help you, but I'm not so, hehe.

Just do it roughly. I get 245. Probably because we've been around for over 3 years.
