How many of you use the Gamespot Union Recruitment Forum? Please post your quick response on the poll and explain it in the posts.

Personally, I use it all of the time. It is rare for my name not to be listed on the first (or second) page, either having created a topic or being the last to post on one. :)

I rarely use it, but I do plan on making another recruitment topic soon. It's been a while since I tried to recruit from there.

Generally, I do not get good results from there. Then again, my union has come a long since the last recruitment effort, so I am willing to give it another shot.

Just so you all know. When I first started the Game Development Union, I asked where people had seen us from. Almost 1/2 of the active posters said The GS Union Recruitment Forum!

yes, but how many members do you have in the union? I rarely use it, only with start-up unions, because there are various ways to get members instead.

I have never used it before (although soon I might use it). I find that when youpost there, a lot of people do not join. I find other ways better, to get more members.

I used to use it for TESFU, but I found it at most garnered 1 to 2 members at a time, which really isn't useful.

I've never used it, I find just sending users invites works well enough for me. I know one of my officers did use it once though, don't know how it worked out.

I never have had much success with it, but then againi've never been that great at recruitment.

I usually invite the contacts I have, who I know would be interested in the subject of the union, or go to a board that has something in common with my union, and recruit there. I also just keep my eye out for people posting about the subject of my union.

For example, when I was first recruiting for the Classic Rock union, I would go to OT, and make a topic about classic rock, and see how people would respond. I would also look through the WAYLT thread.

I kinda think it is useless. Most threads don't even have any replies... and the ones that do have like "bump" posts.

It's more helpful to use Union Invitations than this.

Yes, it doesn't have the best return rate.

However, it has been my experience that it has a high return rate of ACTIVE members.

(Although I do agree inviting specific people works better)

Once in a while, I open a topic inviting them to our union. But like someone mentioned, topics there rarely receive any reply other than "bump".

Not really, any attempts at using it in the past have not seemed particularly helpful, and my union only really attracts a specific type of person. Probably wouldn't hurt to put another ad there.

yeah, no one really goes to that board in the first place. There should really be a union discussion board like this one instead.

I sometimes go to the shared boards, and put under the posts that I make, a written out link saying to join a certain union. It sometimes works, since it will have the actually link and they sometimes take the time to check out what the union is about.

yeah, that occasionally works, but it's not so effective because they aren't necessarily from gamespot.

They automatically have a gamespot account though.

Yes but inviting them from GF won't get very active people. It may get a lot but the GF users may not want to post in a union.

but GF users don't check their GS accounts, and they also don't get messaged about the union unless they're on gamespot.

I would like to see the recruitment board be divided into two - one for charter members and the other for everyday recruits. This would free up a lot of space and prevent bumping over the place. Anyway, I have a question: Can you post more than one thread about your union there or is that spam?

Not sure, but I'm not sure how many mods check that forum anyway, so it's probably safe.

I used it a couple times, but nobody ever replied, so I don't think i'll use that till my union gets more active.
