Which image editors do you use for web graphics? I've tooled around with gimp with little success, wondering what else is out there that can be recommended.
I don't mind paying, but I started looking into what to buy for photoshop and it got intimidating in a hurry (in terms of scope and complexity, not price).
Photoshop is complicated at first but its also a very powerful tool once you get the hang of it. By the way, Adobe are currently developing a free version called Photoshop Express which will be available over the web soon. It will be trimmed down with less features but may at least rival GIMP in free image editors.
There's gimpshop too (I learnt today)-- which mimics Photoshop.I think that will be the direction for me, so if I want to switch over to Photoshop later at least I will be familiar with it.
I use Paint.net which is a free application. Not as complex as photoshop but you can do pics like those found in my profile (maybe better since I haven't digged to much into it).
I typically use GIMP, but I have Photoshop CS3 on my PC, I just never have to use it...plus, I know the GIMP pretty well, so I can typically do anything I want to do with it...but I'm sure Photoshop would make it easier...:?
Or owning a Bugatti Veyron and driving a Ferrari...except, that's a pretty wise decision, cos you wouldn't want to total a Bugatti Veyron...but I'd happily total a Ferrari, if a had a BV...but, then again, I wouldn't want to be seen in a Ferrari if I had a BV...

Yeah, it was pretty stupid, too. Cos, in essence, what I said was, that it's alright to use GIMP, even though you own PS CS3, cos of my disdain for Ferraris, and love of Bugatti Veyrons.
