This might just be too complicated, but maybee we could do a union roster, where it lists all the members and the unions they run. I know we all say that in the intros, but it would be more official.theeman2000
I like that idea, what does everyone else think?

I'm for it. It will take some time, but I think it would be beneficial.

I have a quick suggestion: for those who use the favorites option to quickly get to the forums (such as myself), perhaps you should change the name of the board as it was a small hassle to figure out which one was this union (Union Discussion is not too descriptive).

I think that it fully defines this union...

well we could do that, in order of when the joined the union. I will probably have some free time tonight to do it, so I'll get to work on it.

I guess I could change it to Union Leader Discussion, but I don't usually like when it's like The Union Leader Council Union Board type of thing.
i suggest going to Gamespot Union page and invite every leader of Endorsed unions, big unions or just good ones.Davidhye
Not just the good ones, this union's job is to promote every union with the help of Union leaders, good leading ones and bad leading ones

Perhpas also consider putting them in different orders...say alphabetical (for easier searching) or even largest to smallest unions (which may require a little more work).

I decided on putting up that preffered unions list, because that will help a lot more in terms of a good union list.
small observation that can be imp.
guys/gals... try to be more oganize/control the threads. I ahve seen that you talk about everything everywhere (my impression). if a OT is bring up on a topic try to refer that to the appropiated topic. e.g. i submit a post on intro thread (in reply to just4.), i would put it on OT thread and edit my intro telling just4yoshi that. But i could not find a OT and i guess i`m too new to make one :P
Being OT is not too much appreciated by GS. They prefer a normal degree of activity -somerecruits do not post much bc of this- than a union really active that post a lot without considering the title of teh topic.
Hope i`m not too new to say this... i`m trying too help witha lil advice.
Or could we do an on-topic thread, such as what is on my union? It works similar to an off-topic thread, but instead of being for random discussions, it is for all of the overflow posts.just4yoshiThat sounds better, as I don't think an off-topic thread really fits with this union.

no it really doesn't, the union is designed more for on topic discussion, while in your own union you can post off-topic.

This kinda feels like an advertisement so I'm gonna be against it.
How does it feel like an advertisement? I just mentioned TGDU as an example. :?just4yoshi
I misread your post back there. I thought you were talking about making a thread called what is on my union?

Perhaps we could organize them based on union type, and then organize them alphabetically, by registration date or by union level within each grouping.
[QUOTE="theironmanmatt"]My union could make some union headers.hendrix29
well that would help. We need one for the top 25 union views list, and the union highlights feature.
Any suggestions for what it should look like? What should the dimensions be? Should be black and White or color?
hendrix29, I think we should sticky the "Do you need help with your union thread", because I can already see that new members might not notice it, and make a bunch of new topics asking the same thing "Help me with my union!"
Also, it might not be a bad idea to edit the the topic to include helpful tips about maintaining a union (such as a link to theeman2000's recruiting guide).
Cheers

personally, I don't think that guide applies to all unions, so I can't really use it, but I will sticky that help thread thing.
i'm sorry im not to regular here guys...
i like the wekly best union's idea. some recognistion for the unions would be good.

SGTNAPALM
We do have that in the preferred unions list, but that is a list that you can list your own unions in too.
Some of the people here like giving advice on "how to improve your union", why not compile all the best advice into one big stickied FAQ?alx222000
hmm, that is a good idea. I will wait for a few more guides like that though, because currently we only have two.

Agreed.
I got some suggestions, Ive browsed some unions before and I notice alot of them have LAME articles. For example, dont use to many of the phrases you use with your pals on MSN or any messanger. Im talking about: LOL!!!!, OMFG!!! OMG:O11!!!one!!, these kind of phrases I mean. Dont use them on your articles... ESPEICALLY YOUR ARTICLE TITLES. It looks very unprofessional, im not saying that we should all be pros, hell im not even one. Im saying that you are trying to get people to join your union and be active, thats everyone goal. But if you act like a pre teen about to engage maturity, none will take you serious nor your union.
So be sure to have good resourceful articles, also check your grammer... To many mispelled words make you and your union look bad.
My other suggestion is, talk to the veterans. Im talking about Gamespot veteran users, these users who have been around for a long time or are very commited. These members are good to have around because they have alot of friends they can recommend, they are smarter with USING THE FORUMS then some other users. Veteran users know how to act and how to be active. Dont blow your chance in recruiting veteran members, veterans will take a peek and if they see your union looks like crap and your articles look retarded, they will not take you serious and decline. Thats why my first suggestion is important, thers not alot of talented photoshop users out there so alot of leaders have ugly logos. But some of these leaders have ugly logos but lots of active users simply because the articles they have are unique, and resourceful. None wants to read articles that really dont say anything but a bunch of words.. Know what I mean?
Some good suggestions fr0stm0rn. Also, I like the idea of putting all these suggestions into one big FAQ.
Anyways, I have a small suggestion myself, to aid this union, as well as our fellow unions and leaders. As I do nearly everyday, I recieved a PM with someone who requested me to join their union. I turned them down because of my low activity on GS lately, but thats not the point. Normally when I get these requests I won't reply, because I get so many of them. But instead, this time I directed the leader of the union who sent me the PM to this union, because they are obviously looking for some aid, and new members for their union, and helping unions is what The Union Leader Council is good at.
So my suggestion is, that instead of ignoring these PM's that i'm sure many of you get, why not direct the leader to this union (via link), so they can recieve help with their union (specifically recruitment). I have already done this a few times, and all of the times the leader has come to this union seeking help, like I hoped they would. That way, we will gain new members, and we will be able to help more unions in the process.
Something to consider.
Cheers
To fr0ststr0m: I agree with both points. Whats worse are the unions that use that type of grammar in the union name. As soon as I see that I am not impressed with the union at all. I also agree with the second part as well. I guess I'd consider myself a "veteran member", I've been here since 2003 and I all about Gamespot and their forums. Theres no harm in asking one of us, heck I've gotten a few requests myself and I've done what I can to help them. I was once in their shoes when I started my union so I know what they are going through.
To J-Man: I also agree and I've already directed a few union leaders to this union. Its important that word gets out especially to those smaller unions because they are the ones that need this union more.
