What is the reason you have for starting a union? Did you start it because you wanted a union of your own? Did you actually not start it and it was given to you by a previous leader? Why did you start your union?

I was made leader after the original leader, and another leader resigned because of lack of time for the union. I am beginning to feel the same way, but there is not much activity in the union, so there isn't too much for me to take care of. I plan on trying to bring the union back pretty soon, when I have more time.
Cheers
I have two:
Game Development Union: I want to be the leader of a game development team when I graduate, so figured this could only help me in that goal, even if it was learning everything not to do. I am pleased to announce that it is going better than I anticipated, especially when one considers the loss of participation during the summer months.
G1 Horse Racing Union: Indepently thought up by both myself and Nicole. However, I was the one who really went after finding charter members and had the craziness to lead it, which is why I now lead it.
There is actually a third union I would like to lead, but it was passed off to someone else... bummer. Oh well, two is good enough for now ;).
lol I was laying in bed one night before I went to sleep (I do a lot of my thinking then) and thought, I want to create a union! I thought about creating a Suikoden Union first. But I turned towards my game shelf and saw a bunch of horror games. That's when I wanted to create a horror games union. And the name is the name of a song by Radiohead (spooks. new song off their new album. The song has no words) I thought it fit :P
I started the Christian Political Party Union (CPPU) because I wanted to let people know of the existence of Christian political parties and what they have to offer. Many people are only aware of the mainstream parties.
I also wanted to provide a Christian-friendly environment because a lot of other political forums make fun of Christians and other Social Conservatives.
I started my union one day because I was bored and intrigued by the union idea all together. I was really pretty novice when I made it since I had only recently heard about unions...but getting good members and recruiting a lot of helpful people helped make The Splinter Recon Union the largest Tom Clancy union on gamespot.
I'm very glad to have created my union because I feel it's been a good learning experience for me and I've met a lot of friends that I play on Xbox LIVE with, so it's great! Most of the regulars in my union have known each other for about a year now.
You must like the Transformers movie then :PI created the Transformers Union because there was not one Transformers Union on GS and because I love Transformers. :D

my star wars union cuz I wanted to have someone to play with in online multiplayer, and my pokemon union cuz I wanted to meet others that had the game and make up my own rules for onlin gym chalengessecretsk8r
I heard you could do the same thing in the official Pokemon D/P boards
For me E3 this year was the first time I had been completely involved, and I couldn't get enough. Unsatisfied with the overflow of information and community chatter and the lack of unions to compensate for this, I thought of forming a union devoted to E3 that would allow everyone with one place to go for the fix they needed. In the end we decided to feature every major game show in our union.

That sounds like a great idea, but I was thinking you may want to change the name of your union to reflect all the game shows.
I have always enjoyed designing things for other people, so back when I was a newbie I opened up my own banner request thread in the Off-Topic section of the GS forums. The thread got locked, so I rounded up a few friends and opened up a designing union where my team and I took Banner and Sig requests. Since my Banner making team was so small at the time, I named the union "The Rag-Tags".
that is nice to see, I remember going to your union for a banner once.hendrix29
Yup, Daredeviljeff made you a banner for The Elder Scrolls Fan Union.

I agree, covering more of the events dedicated to games would help ensure that your union stays active most of the time, instead of just during E3.
i leadership my union, bc i have always love CV and for some reason it just had one union dedicated to it....
I have a few friend here in GS that love Castlevania as well, and were always looking all over for updates about the games, news.... so i decide to be part of a union of this great saga.. and try to keep it as updated as possible :D
[QUOTE="blizzvalve"]I wanted a union where we could talk about stuff that is on the internet.hendrix29
well, can't we do that anywhere?
We can. Mostly everywhere.
I didn't start GUFU. I'm actually the fourth leader GUFU has had over the past year it's been active. Our first leader, MrAranstepped down and passed leadership to AK47Lover, who was banned after a few months of leadership. Leadership was passed on to JJGY, who was next in line shortly afterwards. He led the Union for a few months, getting the ball rolling on a number of different GUFU related projects, such as our website (we're in the process of transferring to a new server, so it's down now) and an IRC channel. After a while though, leading the Union became difficult for him due to things he had going on so we held an election, and I was voted in.
GUFU was founded after AK47Lover was called out by one of his "enemies" (and I use that term loosely) on the System Wars forum. The thread was hijacked, and the topic soon moved from its original call out to a Union or forum in which Posters could gather and discuss games or whatever else was on their minds without having to worry about their discussions being ruined by a bunch of rabid fanboys spouting off about how "X" Platform pwns "Y" System because they say it does. Thus, GUFU was born. I wasn't present in the thread that spawned the Union (It's long since been deleted now), but was invited in a few days after its inception. I'm amazed at how fast it's grown in this past year and I look forward to watching it grow even more active in the coming months.
I also founded the Xbox User Fellowship Union(XUFU), as a"daughter union" to go alongside the Sony User Fellowship Union, (SUFU) and the Nintendo User Fellowship Union(NUFU). They aren't very active, but I am looking to increase participation in these Unions by making them open to all and advertising them on GUFU's front page.
I started Renegade Squadron Union because all the other battlefront unions focused only on consoles. So i focus on the PSP battlefront games. My Union really took off, i was really suprised. We have about 3 pages of articles and it has only been 1 month.
