It has been suggested that we create an economy here in the CGU, which would involve gaining and spending currency.
This thread is to discuss ways that currency could be gained and spent, as well as how to implement the economy in the Guild. If enough ideas can be found to make it viable, then we can implement the economy, if not.....

Here, I will display the main ideas, altering it as more details are thought of.

CGBank Accounts
Firstly, a Guild member would need to register for a CGBank account. The CGBank would consist of a thread, with one post for each account, which shows the money and items the account holder owns. If enough accounts are made, multiple threads can be made, dividing the accounts alphabetically and possibly for officers.
The CGBank thread would, of course, be locked. In the event of the union improvements occuring, one officer may be declared the banker, and only they (and the leader) will have the ability to alter the thread/s.

Earning money
Several ideas for gaining funds have been suggested: Contests and games could have a money prize. Successfully inviting new members could earn you money.
Bank interest is another idea and there are a couple of possibilities.
One possibility: Money left in your account for long enough earns interest automatically.
Another possibility: You can specify an amount to put into a sub-account, and for how long. Funds in the sub-account can't be used. Once the specified time is reached, the funds are returned to the main account with interest added.
People could challenge one another to online games, staking an amount of on the outcome. The games would need to be turn based due to the distance between most members, and preferablly free (Games like Scorched 3D and GunBound come to mind). This idea would require some planning.
If I could think of the correct way, I could run casino-type games. And there could be betting on the aforementioned challenges.
Officers may earn a wage.Â

Spending Money
The most important part. If you work to earn funds, you really want something worth spending it on.
There would be a shop thread, with a list of items to buy and their prices. Members would post (possibly in a different thread) what they would like to buy, and then an officer would go to the buyer's account, and edit the post to deduct the cost, add the item and write a note of the transaction. They would then acknowledge the transfer by editing the buyer's post in the shop/buying thread. If the purchase involves a particular member, then that member must be the one to acknowledge the request.
Unfortunately, at this point, there are no ideas as to things that a person could buy at such a shop.
One of my game ideas is the Robo Rumble, which involves building a robot out of parts and then placing it in an arena to battle with other people's robots. I am considering that you will need to buy the parts for money. The game however, is currently unfinished, and I do not know when it will be.
Some competitions could have entry fees.
