An obscure strategic RPG released by Square back in 1995. It is a great series of games. The idea is that you control a squad of robots, called Wanzers, and complete missions through turn based combat. The game provokes tactical thinking and serious thought as you progress throughout it. Since it is also an RPG, there is some exploring, customising and buying elements that make you have complete choice over what type of wanzers and team tactics you are relying on.

Sadly, due to it's obscurity, there are only a few Front Mission games ready for purchase in Western territories. Front Mission, Front Mission 3 and Front Mission 4 can all be found in the USA with a little luck and research, your best bet is eBay for these games. As for Europe, we sadly only saw release of Front Mission 3, which is arguably the best game in the series anyway. However, if you have a DS, don't hesitate to import the original Front Mission for DS, it is a fantastic purchase if you're looking for an enduring and interesting game on the system.

You'll have to go through a lot of hassle to get it to work on your PS2 you know...

It's no hassle for me... I'm ordering it right now the NA right now, i'll let you know how it goes. I'm alittle cautious about the NA, because the Xenosaga Greatest Hits hardly works... my PS2 is unable to read it.

It works with other American games, such as Dragon Quest VIII (which also has a europeon released which I knew nothing about at the time)... so long as I have my swapdisc... I can safely play games from other regions.

It voids the warraty, for example, if someone wants to go the whole step to mod it, you have to open up you're PS2 (i have the slim version) and I had to modify a few parts... there is a risk of damaging the console... however if an unexperience person was working on it, then there a high chance of it breaking.

I heard you can mod your console and put a flap there instead of a tray to solve in the issue.

Everyone has alot of games... It would be hard to believe that everyone will have 23 memory cards kept in each case... also I think they're saving money. A bit of plastic that worth 2p they're trying to save.

I'm aware that it's easy to place the memroy card back in and take out again when you want to play.

Yeah, go ahead. There is also another Front Mission on DS but it was only released in Japan, I'm waiting for an English patch until I hear news of a Western release.

Are you aware about Front Mission online? I would of really taken a shot of that if I knew about it sooner, as now the servers are offline.

makes me wonder that SquareEnix already had a good line up of MMO games.

I thought everyone would be hyped up many of SquareEnix game, ever since the impact of Final Fantasy VII, I thought they would of been taken in by it... it annoys me thou, I really think some 'fans' are just idle talking when they say how much they enjoyed FFVII. That's my opinion of it.

I think they didn't release Front Mission Online over here due to the bad press from Final Fantasy XI. I bet Front Mission Online's a good game though, I would've liked to try it

It didn't do very well and the Xbox 360 version was slammed by some critics.

I've only played the front mission port for the DS. I really hope they make the sequels for the DS too as I really like that game, and front mission online? Wow that game would've been fun.

They released Front Mission 3 and 4 in North America so you might want to look out for those games on Playstation and Playstation 2.

It doesn't matter, Psone games work on PS2. Front Mission 4 is supposed to be quite good. Just pick up both of them anyway.

I was thinking of getting Front Mission 2 not long ago because the language barrier only extends to the cutscenes and not the game itself.

I've seen Front Mission on the DS in a Forbidden Planet in Nottingham but didn't buy it because I was stupid. Front Mission 3 - did anyone ever fully complete that game with its multiple endings or indeed see all of the mechs/ get all of the weapons?

Best mech in that game (jokingly) was the pink mech with a mohican.

Its been so long since I last played Front Mission 3 that I really can't remember.
