Fallout 3 is the newest in the series of role-playing games from Bethesda, creators of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The game is of epic proportions, with an extreme amount of quests where the player must make decisions affecting the game. One of the most known decisions affect the city of Megaton, which is located around a defunct nuclear bomb. The player - if willing - can detonate this bomb and destroy the entire city to form relations with an evil character and receive a free suite in a flashy hotel.

Fallout 3 will be releasing in the end of October. Will you be picking it up?

I loved Oblivion and will get this on day one.

Hell Yeah!!! Still worried whether to buy it on PS3 or Xbox360....I preffer PS3( Xbox360 is just so Bloody Noisy....)....but Xbox360 is apparently getting exclusive content.......hate it when developers do that.

Its 50/50 for me, I kind of feel I am getting onboard the hype train for it. However, I didnt play loads of Oblivion as I dont have hundereds of hours to spend on one game. Also, its a case of should I get the PC or 360 version.

Bethesda did good work with Oblivion, so I'm pretty psyched for this. Although, I doubt I'm getting this for PC. PS3 time.

I think everyone has mixed feelings for the game.

Oblivion got really great reviews... I wouldn't be surprised as Bethseda would do a good job on Fallout 3.

I have a slight worry, as it may just focus heavily on the graphics and add nothing not a few parts to the gameplay. I really do hope the gameplay will be worth the effort.

So long as it's good value for money, then it would be worth the time.

Yeah, there are definitely a lot of similarities. That's probably my biggest doubt about it. They fixed the problem with voice-acting, though. Oblivion had like four people doing the voice work of all the people, while in Fallout 3 they have a lot more variety. Still, I loved Oblivion, so my interest hasn't faded.

If it is like Oblivion (in terms of RPG systems) I won't get this. The whole enemy leveling up with the character thing annoyed the heck out of me.

I liked that mechanic, kept a challenge on harder difficulty. But Honestly, I played Oblivion on the easiest setting, and Will probably do the same with this. I Want ExPloration in this type of game, not challenging enemies.Which was what annoyed Me about Two Worlds, among other things, you needed to level like Hell, or monsters in certain areas would Kill You Without Breaking A Sweat. From The Moment I start up the game, I wanna Be Able to Go AnyWhere.

I agree with the enemies. I began to use invisibility (Ghost Walk spell etc) all the time just because the enemies take forever to kill because of their giant health bars... Not to mention that the battle sounds coming from the enemies were disturbing.

It isn't a fair system. It makes level grinding a much more useless option because it doesn't change how your character beats the baddies.

but really my biggest gripe with Oblivion was the fighting. Constantly slashing at the opponent gets tedius and annoying with the sounds coming from the enemies, but in Fallout 3 the FPS mechanics seem more than decent.

GameTrailers just put up some "World Exclusive" videos here. It does a better job of showing how the game plays than previous videos I think. The animations are a bit poor and the AI doesn't move right, but that's just something you have to overlook in a game this huge.

Interesting video links there Benny. I quite like the look of it but the enemies dont seem to react to your attacks which may be what you mean by movement? Appart from that it looks solid, I could be interested in this game but there are so many out this year that I could do with its unbelivable.

That's what I meant by movement, but if you look at the Brotherhood of Steel video you see that your allies run into the destroyed vehicle and such. I think I saw a scripted death animation that was kinda cool, but other than that the enemies seem to be completely stoic to bullets until they die and the ragdoll effect kicks in, with or without exploding limbs... which looks pretty cool. I like how the eyes fly out

I am looking forward to using the radio. Apparently it fades in and out depending on your position, and there's a quest that involves the radio tower. There seems to be a lot of great atmosphere, but I'm hoping the environments are more varied than what has been shown.

Should be one at each of your local Mage's guild halls. Balmora, Ald'Ruin, Sadrith Mora: Wolverine Hall, Vivec, or Gnisis. Or you could ride your local Silt Striter.(I know my spelling is horrible but I couldn't remember how to spell some of them and was too lazy to look it up:oops: )

It will apparently have the same system as Oblivion, so you can fast-travel to each visited place on your map.

Indeed, Oblivion was a Pretty ""flat"" area, but Fallout III seems to have allot of hinder in your path.I'm not planning to spend hours on a single Quest.I Suppose RolePlayers Might not use it, but walking is definatly Not My Thing.

Hmm Fallout 3....nice...worth playing...but...not as good as the Fallout 1&2 francises and let's not forget Fallout Tactics(Best tactics/tbs post-nuclear game)...thow Fallout 3 tries to keep up to the stories in 1&2...I got a more post-apocaliptic or nuclear witch one do u want...from Stalker 1 set after the explosion at Chernobyl...even Stalker Clear Sky has a certain feeling that reminds me of Fallout

I suppose it depends, I would say Fallout 3 has the easier set up as I have played Fallout on the PC and found it very hard. It depends if you like the top down and old comic style it uses or the newer game which is first/third person behind you.

I had difficulty getting into Fallout 2... the only reason is that it's HUGE!

The first fallout, took me a while to get into, however it was simply too short yet sweet. As well as exploring the whole game and getting multiple endings. I also like most of the humour of the game.

Most memorible bit is when your character will enjoy trying to kill the 'fat guy' in Junkyard and mentions how much he wants to see him 'run more then ten feet for once'.

i played the hell out of both fallout 1 and 2 (probly spent more time with 2 than fallout 1 tho), but i picked up oblivion and all its expansions in one lump package and could only make it part way through the game.  I just got quite bored with it, and the leveling system really made me feel as i was just wasting time playing.

But i picked up fallout 3 and am about to beat it, and am actually pretty damn entertained.  Im normally a huge punk when it comes to games, and complain about alot. But fo3 has been a pretty good time for me.  Hell i cant remember the last game that i ever played that i didnt have to patch just to be able to get through the game (for pc), i still crash here and there with a few minor problems, but im still able to get through it and just cant believe it runs like it does.  Almost every game company today for pc doesnt bother to make playable games until months after most releases.

Fo3 does still ahve a system that levels enemies with you, but its far better then oblivion ever was.  I just wish i could level past 20, and that less enemies were not melee based and super quick so i could depend on the stupid vats system less.  Still a good game tho and was definitly worth the buy.

I still wish it was like the old games where you had a 3rd person view and a turn or live turn based game, but it was still a good game.  I just hope they do someday come out with a game that is similiar to the old fallout games or even fallout tactics (tactics was awesome).

that is a truelly difficult question.  I keep going back and forth with that one in my head, and i keep saying oblivion seems to have slightly more control, but then again you cant destroy an entire town in oblivion for instance can you?

But ya i dunno why, but i feel that oblivion probly has slightly more control over your enviornment.  Probly because its slightly larger with more houses and towns available?  I really dont know what keeps bringing me back to that answer honestly.

Maybe its just because im still pissed at fallouts stupid a or b ending lol.

I guess i have to disagree with Crush_project on this one. I liked Oblivion more. I think the sheer size of Oblivion made more quests available and more CHOICES available to you. While i liked Fallout3, i didn't like that it just ended. I also thought it odd that i never had more than 2 or 3 items to choose from in regards to quests. I only had the one "house", and bought a bench, but only found 3 items to build at it.

Maybe i just didn't explore around enough, but it felt barren and limited in the choices i could make... obviously it's supposed to in some respects. But, in terms of decision-based games... i think Oblivion has more choices.

Yeah, that was odd. I haven't played the game, but I've heard this in many podcasts. I guess the development didn't go as planned - wasn't the hundreds of endings something they said years ago?

I'm a bit bummed that you can't continue playing after you end the game. Not sure what happens in the ending... but it would be nice to be able to go back and finish the quests after finishing the main storyline.

Bah, this game is 20 pounds in a deal for the day affair (its normally double that). I am not sure whether to get it or not as there are a few decent tiles around at the moment like Banjo Kazooie on Live Arcade and Star Wars Force Unleashed for 18 pounds.

Only 3?

Im sorta disappointed now, I was looking forward how I could get multiple endings. And based on what benny said, I'm turned off on buying the game, since you can't go back and do everything once you finish the main storyline.

Well, I agree that it was a bit limited. I didn't like the level cap at 20, mostly because I didn't know about it beforehand, and I didn't like the ending, because it ended... but the rest of the game I enjoyed thoroughly. It's been a while since I played oblivion, and I guess I can see fewer choices overall, but I found the choices in Fallout to be more meaningful and diversified. One thing that I thought was a nice touch was GNR Radio. Several of the more high profile side quests make it to radio, and based on what you do in the quest, 3Dog's reaction changes (he's the guy running the station for those that haven't played it).

I may also be biased because I prefer Scifi to Fantasy, but I really did enjoy Fallout 3.

All the fallout games had a level cap on 20... it was enough for a player to defeat anyone with the level cap stats in the first fallout game.

It difficult as it is in the game to get to level 5 as it is. There was a fast way of doing it, however it's simply completes the whole game as soon as you start.

The Pitt DLC is out. It's riddled with bugs as of now, there are loads of exclamation mark symbols and lack of textures due to objects and textures missing. But for what I gathered beyond that the DLC is quite nice, and the Auto-Axe is awesome.

Have Bethesda made comment on possible fix for the bugs?
