Hey all

With this union looking at RTS and managment games, I was wandering what sort of tactics people here like to employ on their games?

Do you generally go and rush at the start and spam the enemy base with units, do you take your time to build a deffence? Do you try and gather resources fast and try and get your technology high quickly?

In most games, I prefer to build an army of my favorite unit types and heroes, level them up and go attack the enemy with a huge army. In between I put extra emphasis on resource gathering--that has always been a favorite activity of mine; building up the economy. Somtimes I also use rush tactic, but that's just for the sake of fun.

I'm an upgrade the technology and economy quickly type of guy. I hate getting rushed and am the type to say "no rushing" or whatever... but I generally play single-player vs computers ratehr than ppl. At least ever since college.

I was never big on ecomomy, and I usually just build up my army and defence until mid-game. I use this tactic a lot in dawn of war.

Yeah, I kinda hate rush tactics, too. One game where AI does this cheaply is LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II. This tendency is epidemic in the expansion, rise of the witch king. The only thing the AI does is build 2/3 batallions of basic units and demolish my resource buildings. No matter what my units do to them, they don't fight back and they just concentrate on destroying the resource building. That's one of the dumbest AI behavior I've ever seen in any RTS games, but it works for them and is damn irritating!

Actually for turn-based games I expand fast and kill my neighbors fast. Then I build up a huge army and assualt any other opponents still standing.
