A fan of Dynasty Warriors and a lot of other "Onimusha" type hack games, and seeing this new Genji game, I have come up with a few new ideas for what I would like to see happen to game play. The PS3 can do the things I want to see.
- A character that can fight with either 1 or 2 swords. He/she will carry both and they will be visible on them. You (the player) can use a button to make him/her put away one sword, and then hit it again to take it out. I think that would give you a very "real" feeling. And be able to be a master of many styles which can be switched on the fly even between enemies. Like switching to (I forgot name dangit) but the style of quick powerful attacks with a sword that is put away. So when you feel cocky, put both away and use power and speed.
- And the block. All blocks are just "hold down the button and when an attack comes it will bounce off." Excuse me while I yawn.............................*sigh* Ok. But what I want is this. In real life when you are attacked from a certain spot or in a certain way, you block in different manners. And you try to block in a way that can let you follow up with an attack of your own. This is what I want in a game. When attacked, you can time it and press a button. The attack will be deflected as it would in real life. (throw enemy off balance ex..) And then if you time it right, you can use a counter attack on the enemy, which could be more powerful. Thing is I want the player to be able to make the call and have to time it like in real life. If I just stood there with my weapon in front of my face, where would you attack? Duh!!
Anyway, let me know what you think, or give a thought as to what you would like to see from a "weapon, action, hack n' slash."
