So it says that in Asia, they released two parts (totaling over 4 hours). And outside of Asia, they released one film (2.5 hours). What's the difference between the two versions?
I found part I of Red Cliffs online, I'll watch it when I get free time. But for now.... 4TH OF JULY BABY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now how do we find/watch it?harden007
I don't know where you can get a copy of the movies... but I might of found this place you can watch it at.
Red Cliffs I - http://www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/red_cliff/
Red Cliffs II - http://www.watch-movies-links.net/movies/red_cliff_ii/
Thanks Buttman, I've been watching it and it's awesome. harden007
No problem, I'll get around to watching it when I get some free time. The only downside to this is that Megavideo keeps track of your IP and only allows you to watch it for 72 minute intervals...

Yeah that got old. I just decided to download it.
I just finished the first movie, and, it was pretty good. The only thing that bothers me is that they make Cao Cao be like the Hitler of the movie. Other than that it looks good so far.

Yeah about caocao being like hitler, also he is the only wei officer given a look in although there is one unnamed rather dumb wei officer, probably a nod to Xu Chu.

Yeah the movie is definitely being shown through the persepective of Wu/Shu. I guess if they showed the movie through the persepective of Wei, Shu/Wu would be the bad guys... o well, maybe they'll save that for another movie lol.
I guess that's because Liu Bei being a man of virtue is directly taken from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, where it was also obvious that the author thought he deserved to rule the land the most. The movie is probably based on the book, so...in originalty gladly the movie wasnt so much based on the bookit was a bit more open on Wu but for Wei they did put a lot of exxagartion on the book
Does kinda make you wonder how much power a writer can have, doesn't it?Sir_Demii
Cao Cao was the villain in the bookharden007Indeed he was Harden
I saw both movies quite a while ago now. I thought they were done really well. SSX looked really odd though....at least that part where she pretends to be a guy and isn't detected is believeable as a result though. lol
I think they portrayed Cao Cao relatively well but his GREAT infatuation with Zhou Yu's wife was, for me, out of character. Zhuge and Zhou's parts were played really well. The only big gripe I have is how they leave Liu Bei and his brothers out of the story so much. It mainly focuses on Wu an Wei. By that I mean they are not as intertwined in the narrative as much as Sun, Zhou, Cao and Zhuge.
In total I would give the movie 8/10.Â
(5 being my average score......not 7 as most reviewers use)
Luo Guanzhong was from the same area as Liu Bei. so he gave preference to him. Cao Cao was not from a favored area of the country so Guanzhong made him the villian. Bruneauinfo
AH-HA! The truth is out lol.

my thoughts exactly.
plus Cao Cao did have the hots for the Qiaos in the book.

Not as odd as she looked in DW6.
Too much was made of Cao Caos infatuation,as far as i know it was only a made up rumour.
Luo Guanzhong's book could be compared to an old Chinese version of The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales. Mister Lou just took all the stories and tales he'd heard about the ancient era (and stories created afterwards) and combined them with a historical record that existed in a collection of books numbering near 50. so he condensed a lot along the way and simplified for the sake of art. still quite a few books when he was done it's probably much more interesting than the truth.

you have a weak sense of girls... oh who am i kidding its so revolting its not even worth joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!I wouldn't say she's ugly, just a bit on the "plain" side. She's also wearing too many articles of clothing to judge the body shape, which appears more slender than you might think in parts of the movie.

Ah, yeah, I get you both but you see, Cao Cao's hots for the Qiaos was just a rumour and he never really was infatuated by them so much as to the point where he would compromise a battle. He was a great strategist and I think the film kind of took that away from him at then end when he was tricked by the Qiao.
In terms of it being just Wei and Wu, I guess that is true but I really wanted to see more of Shu as a fan rather than anything of historical or literary significance.
Speaking of the litereature, I have not read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Have any of you? If so, could you give me an ISBN?
reading the book will totally destroy your fantasy perception of the story.
ignorance is bliss.

I like living in my own fantasy, good thing I haven't read it yet. Score one for lazyness.

I believe Bruno made a website with the whole book on it. I forget what website it is though.
