In recent days, many have been critical of Nintendo's marketing factor of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Metroid Prime 3, which comes out in two weeks in North America, is one of the biggest releases for the Wii this year, or ever for that matter. The fact that we are this close to Metroid's release and there is still so little hype, suggests that Nintendo is brushing off Metroid Prime 3 in favor of marketing more recognizable titles like Super Mario Galaxy or Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

While on Friday we obviously got a wake up call from Nintendo, there still doesn't seem to be nearly enough buzz on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. So, in that case, do you think that Metroid Prime 3 is being hyped sufficiently? Or, like IGN, do you think that Nintendo is doing a horrible job of marketing this possible masterpiece?

I think Metroid Prime 3 is is advertised enough, Nintendo did a great job with the Channel thing.

Sure maybe it could use a little more, that woudn't hurt. But I really think that Metroid Prime will still be big even though many thing it's underhyped. The game WILL be awesome, only because of the fact that it is being done by awesome developers.

Of course this is underhyped, This is the biggest game for the Nintendo Wii since Zelda: TP, thus this year so far. Theres really no games coming out for the Wii that can satisfy the Hardcore gamer. There is no hype for this game when there should be, although we all hype it here. What's wrong? This many be the biggest games all this year for the Wii ... I mean the other two big ones are only SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy. I think it's Underhyped, eventhough I'm not getting it.

I think is getting enough hype. I don't think a game like this should be to hyped up. It's gonna be a huge game but hyping it could make it dissapointing in the end. It will be a good game though maybe the best on Wii so far.

I honestly thought they were under hyping it until they dedicated a channel to it. That was really cool and a huge step forward in how Nintendo will start marketing games.

The reason I think some might consider it under hyped is when compared to megatons like Halo 3, Metroid can easily fall under the radar. That's not a bad thing I think Metroid definitely has the fan base to warrant such efforts. There has been one thing that I liked particularly with Halo 3that Nintendo is employing on Smash Bros. Brawl and that is weekly updates which alone can make a huge difference especially if the developers get creative.

Using this marketing method the game will first and foremost excite the fans and then get new ones if new comers like what they see simply due to the constant attention and word of mouth spreading. So finally did Nintendo do everything that it could have? Certainly not. Was it enough to get people on board? I think so. Also once the game comes out the marketing should increase as those reviews start hitting.

Even the new channel hardly qualifies as a justifiable amount of hype for a game that is surely going to be amazing. I mean, it's hardly going to reach out to more people than the ones interested enough to take the time to download the channel and everything. This game should definitely be hyped the same amount as, if not more, than the original Metroid Prime was, as it could be a good selling point for the Wii, but this time geared towards the more hardcore gamers. What is Nintendo thinking?! :P

It took me less than a minute to download the channel... it doesn't take that much time.

I'm still waiting to see the commercial before I place my verdict on whether or not Metroid Prime 3 is being underhyped or marketed to a point that is less than it deserves.

Now that I think about what you said I think it needs a little more hype because of an excellent point you make. That is the Wii lacks hardcore games so one would be inclined to think that when a hardcore, AAA, 1st party game is actually coming they would jump on and market like nothing before. I guess the launch channel was that thing, but clearly if not all of you are satisfied then more work lies ahead of Nintendo. I think they should at least mention it more often when talking about the Wii because it certainly makes it less gimmicky in the eyes of other gamers and otherpotential buyers

This game will probably be great, but it just isn't a system seller. Most hardcore gamers don't own a Wii, so MP3 won't sell as well as, say, Halo 3. I think it's getting just the right amount of hype. Too much hype will mean it would flop when it only says 1 mil copies.

Metroid Prime games won't get the hype of the likes of Mario or Zelda. Metroid games haven't sold very well compared to those games series but it will be good but it will never be hyped up like a Mario or Zelda game.

One million copies is a lot you know. TP only sold 1.5 million (got that statistic from EGM, but they didn't clarify whether that was regional or worldwide)... so in this case if Metroid Prime 3 managed to sell a million copies then that would be a huge success. Especially since Metroid Prime 2 only sold about 500k.

I also think people overeact to Wii's casual audience. There is a big casual audience in the Wii's demographic, sure, but as usual there are still a lot more hardcore gamers that own a Wii than casuals.

It was great to have Nintendo have the option to download the preview. However, I do think that MP3 is over shadowed by Mario Galaxy and SSBB. To me, this game is looking awesome and it is near release. Nintendo has done very well to "prime" people with the upcoming game with the VC titles and preview. Overall, I MP3 could deserve more attention because this is a big title probably since TP. We still have 2 weeks until it comes out and something could happen.

Okay, I just used the wrong figure. Fixed.

Well, I think that if System wars is hyping it as AAA, it really can't get much better. Hyping as AAAA is just stupid, for the most part. You really can't hope for much better imo.
