I heard that while in standby mode with WiiConnect24 on you Wii will get very, very hot. I was hoping so of you could clarify. I also heard it is better to leave your Wii in the stand and not on it's side. So does your Wii overheat, or gets close to it?

Ok, here are my comments on the hardware itself:

1. It definitely isnt nearly as loud as the GCN, which is good

2. It does get kind of warm, but then again this is after it has been turned on for a couple of hours

3. When in WiiConnect24, I haven't noticed it getting warm at all.  Besides, it really is no different than a PS2 when it is in standby it just cant be turned off.  Plus apparently it only uses the amount of power of a small lightbulb so.....

4. I keep the console in the stand anyway because it looks better

I was thinking about the overheating myself with the wiiconnect24 and have come to the conclusion that the system kinda go's to sleep mode. Otherwise it will definatley overheat, could be a launch issue but I doubt it Nintendo are better then that. Althugh watching this new generation of hardware faliures shows it's turning into a trend especially due to heat issues.

even if it does overheat, go to circuitcity.com, they have a cooling thing for the Wii, kinda like there is one for the 360

IF you are talking about the NYKO intercooler accesory for the 360 then don't buy them. First of it literally burned my friends 360 (actual fire) then he called and went through a hundred things untill they actually confessed they had a press conference where they acknowledged the problem and said they would refund people and or repair the 360 free of charge.

PS I'm pretty sure other people had the problem as well and Nyko's confession is not only due to the friend I'm reffering to but you should've heard what he went through (called sony ign gamespot and everything it was funny), also he's a friend from a outside forum by the way not someone I know personally but I did see pictures.

No rev my wii won't come till early 07 it got pushed past xmas. Hope your enjoying yours BTW, whomam I kidding your probablly playing all day along with the rest of this union.

Well I havent had anything on wiiconnect24 yet, but I doubt it gets hot. Even when playing Zelda it gets a little warm, but not hot. Besides, when in standby mode, the wii only draw in about 7watts of power so it shouldnt be enough to overheat it.

wiiconnect is on for me, but i will check it out good tomorrow, once at power up and then after a few hours and then after it's been off. i felt if before and it was fine, i even thought that playing a VC game like sonic after TP might actually let the console cool down since it's using so much less processing power.
