Could Wii be a distraction? Will it stop selling after the first month? Personally, I don't care if Nintendo die after this console, I'll be with them every last step of the way.

The sheer number of possibilites this Wii-mote brings should be, in my opinion, enough to make for a lasting premise, much like the DS who is an evident commercial success.

It's definitely not just for non-gamers. It's for every single type of gamer (including hardcore)

With the virtual console, the Wiimote, free online gameplay, and Connect24 for extra content in games, it can last for a very long time. :D

Actually, Virtual Boy was more of a poorly executed innovation than a gimmick...

the wii may be like the ds when it frist came out. with games that don't take advantage of the remote. but later in it's life it will get better.

I see your points, but I just wish Wii was more than just a cool controller. I mean, if some games (Like mario Kart and NSMB on DS) don't need the motion-sensing, then you might aswell just play the Xbox360 or PS3 versions.

yea but it will be cool to see how mario kart plays on wii. and i think you will get used to the controller and wonder why you ever played with a normal controller.

Actually, I usually am not a fan of gimmicks adn all this flashy stuff but with the tremendous success of the DS, I seriously can't see how Nintendo could screw with something simply more innovative than their hugely successful handheld. And if the excitement from the people who actually played the Wii at E3 is any sign....we should be in for a great ride this generation!

i dont know why people would label it  gimmick though?  When i first read about the ds i thought " WOW! This syetem has a lot more improvements and stuff in it compared to other handhelds"....i didnt think gimmick. I thought it was cool even to see 3D graphics on a handheld
