I will not be posting links since its all over the internet right now, but let's just discuss some of the Wii stuff Nintendo announced.

Storage solution using SD cards for full storage (it is more work considering the SD cards transfer speeds are horrendous, but it is very possible to work considerably well).

Punch Out! Wii - originally rumoured for e3 presentation, now officially announced.

Sin and Punishment 2 - sequel to the first Sin and Punishment currently available on the Wii Shop for 1200 points

Gamecube Wiimakes - Nintendo is remaking many of their Gamecube titles for the Wii with updated graphics and Wii controls (so far announced Pikmin 1+2, Metroid Prime 1+2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Chibi Robo, and Mario Tennis. Here's hoping for online play in a couple of them *crosses fingers*)

From the Japanese conference there were a few other games shown that were not really talked about, here are some screens from a couple of those games:

Tact of Magic- A sequel/prequel of the DS game LostMagic

http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/915/915543/takuto-of-magic-screens-20081002091038126_640w.jpghttp://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/915/915543/takuto-of-magic-screens-20081002091025907_640w.jpg

Dynasty Warriors Wii - A new Dynasty Warriors game for the Wii

Another Code - A new "Another Code" (or Trace Memory game) for the Wii

There are some more games I can't think of off the top of my head. So, opinions; does this make up for whatever the hell people were disappointed with e3 for?

For one I'm happy that we can finally store our WSHP games on an SD card thus allowing 4x the space that the Wii offers us. Not the solution I was hoping for but I guess we don't really need a HDD afterall on the Wii since games aren't that big. A 2GB SD card should probably be enough for me. Plus since we can do that, this might open the possibility of playing your VC games on the DSi which would be incredible (kinda like how you can play PSone games on both the PS3 and the PSP).

As for GCN games being re-released, I didn't know that they were coming to the Wii with motion controls. Well that's good news and might get me back to MP and possibly get me to buy MP2. But I'm not paying anything higher then 30$ for those, heck I think 20$ would be reasonable at that point since these games are **** old. WW with motion controls? Nah I actually doubt they'll re-release WW :P.

The original Pikmin 2 is pretty expensive and hard to find so maybe I'll just wait for the Wii version. Other than that...meh.

I think it's stupid that they're wasting their resources on GCN games that are already widely available, and I think it's even stupider that Punch Out is the best they could come up with to impress the core gamer. I don't care about Punch Out.

Give me Zelda already. Really.

Reggie said the Mario and Zelda team are still hard at work making them saying give us time we only haven't even had Mario Galaxy out or Mario Kart Wii out for a full year. Well most Mario games are out nearly every 3 months. He said wait we want to surprise you but one thing is for certain they are coming.

You should really take into consideration how development was back then and how it is now. I don't rely on how many years have passed and I couldn't care less. I think everybody would agree when I say that I can wait. As long as they release a quality product, I'll wait. There are other games to play. I still have Majora's Mask to play :P.

By that logic, the standard for a good game on the Wii would be one or two every year. I think to say that those are the standards for the Wii would pretty much be admitting that I wasted $250 on my console that offers nothing but a new Mario game every few months.

And lebs, you really must play MM. I'm surprised you haven't already.

Well TBH so far my experience with the Wii was the same as the Gamecube's. Few great titles a year, always waiting for the next big game. Though difference is that there's online play (crappy), VC/Wiiware (lovely) and the Wiimote (err...)

Sometimes I do feel sad for not having bought the Xbox 360 instead of the Wii since I know I'd be having fun right now with it's games. The Wii isn't bad but it isn't great either, in overall we've set our standards too high for that console and now all it does is disapointing us (or me at the least). Right now I feel like the only reason I'm keeping my Wii is because of Zelda games.

Speaking of Zelda, I did play Majora's Mask but never got too far into it. I was young >_>

I find it wierd that Nintendo now only brings out one big Mario platformer every generation but with Zelda there's always 2 massive games.

we.....just had a mario game......not even a year ago.....i'm glad we're getting a new one and all, but calm down! we just had on, we're fortunate to be getting a new one, 3d mario games are normally once a generation.

as for zelda, they did a good job with TP's controls, i cant wait to see a zelda that is actually meant for the wii.

as for the gc games.....meh.....if they're cheap it might be ok.

There is probably gonna be about 3 or 4 Mario games out in 2009 I won't be surprised because he's Mario and Nintendo does like to use him alot. Maybe not another platformer but maybe another spinoff most likely.

The one thing that I like is the GC remakes actually. I have never played Pikmin and it is VERY hard to find, at least in my area. Hopefully, they won't be overpriced. Punch Out and Sin and Punishment 2 is something that I don't find exicting. I have never played the ones out now. AT least, we have some storage solution coming soon. BTW, anybody notice the Wii Speak Channel that is supposed to be $30.:?

From what I understand you have to pay to download the channel but you get it free if you buy the Wii speak peripheral. What in the world will you do on that channel without the peripheral?

I'm also not excited about Punch Out and Sin Punishment. Never really like Punch Out in the first place and I just had no clue about the existence of Sin and Punishment.

I loved Mike Tyson's Punch Out, but I'm not excited about the Wii version. I feel like it's just another cheap effor by Nintendo to get as much money for as little effort as possible. Another gimmick, if you ask me.

I added the screenshots and trailers for Punch Out and Sin and Punishment 2 for those interested.

It looks like they are going for the cellshaded cartoon look for Punch Out to distinguish it from other boxing games. I kind of hope they give a classic (NES) control mode for the new Punch Out as well so that you don't HAVE to use motion controls for it if you don't want to. But there really needs to be something big and new for it, all it looks like is a remake of the original.

I understand that, but it's still not a very original idea, and certainly shouldn't qualify as a big announcement.

Simple! In murlow's world, we judge games without even playing them! Heck you don't even need to know **** about the gameplay, if I think it's crap then it most certainly is. Go ahead and see how easy and wonderful it is :D.

Ya ... I just reworded it in the way murlow was arguing against Punch Out as a big announcement (which it really isn't supposed to be in the first place ... the big announcement was supposed to be DSi :P).

To be fair ... Nintendo has really already released just about EVERYTHING that the hardcore Nintendo fan ever really cares about (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Mario Kart), as well as many of their second teir games (Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Mario Strikers, Paper Mario). All they have left this generation are some remaining second teir games (Kirby, Star Fox, FZero, Donkey Kong). After that ... they really have no main franchise games and must rely solely on new IPs and/or returning IPs like Punch Out!! and Sin and Punishment. So I understand pretty well that we might not be seeing a whole lot of big first party titles for a while (which is why we have third parties), and hope a few other people actually understand as well.

Zelda? A port of a GCN game with Wiimote controls tacked-on? I wouldn't really say that they've gone into the Zelda field yet, that's probably the only Primary franchise left for the Wii.

Heh, that's just what I was about to post...

It'd be absurd to say that we've gotten our Zelda fix when the last console Zelda was released two years ago and was a port of a last-gen game on a "new gen" console.

But the funny thing is that Nintendo would have you believe that you did get your fix. They don't give us enough credit. They obviously think we're about of sheepish idiots with the game lineup they've given us lately.

Phantom was dead on with the point I was trying to make. The idea isn't original. Is there one of us that didn't think they would release a boxing game with motion controls when the Wii was announced. The game is a gimmick b/c it will probably be very similar to the original game except that it has motion control. The screenshots further prove the point.

In this case, you're calling it more of a fan service right? If so then I couldn't agree more.

That is a good point right there. Yet, Reggie and just about everyone else said that Nintendo is working on Mario and Zelda. We have seen the big name titles. The rest of the games are made up by third parties. NIntendo has already unleashed the big titles. Games take time to make.

It will be an intresting 2009 for Nintendo then. There main games have gone and we are probably hoping that we get another big Mario or Zelda game in the long run but who knows. Nintendo might not want to show Zelda just yet maybe it could be a release in late 2009 even though we haven't heard anything from it.

I don't know for you, but at this point I just don't care anymore. I have a DS, a PSP and will get a Xbox 360 in December. I'll have tons of games to play to even care about what Nintendo is doing. As long as I get Zelda, I just don't care about Nintendo anymore. Those who are disapointed should either shut up or just buy another system like what I'm about to do.

I did buy another system as well you know I saw this coming. I am only waiting for the next Zelda game on Wii because it seems very unlikely Nintendo will make another Mario platformer seeing as they only release one per generation.

Unfortunately, I agree. Nintendo just doesn't have the excitement factor that it used to. I'll still look out for a new Zelda and (obviously) new DS games, but otherwise I'm not going to go looking for news from Nintendo.

I have plenty of 360 and DS games to keep me busy. I'm playing (and THOROUGHLY enjoying) Tales of Vesperia right now for the 360, and I'm looking forward to playing the new Castlevania in a few weeks on the DS.

That doesn't just go for Nintendo but for anybody who owns only one console, at this point if you really want to enjoy games you should get 2 systems and the combo of choice IMO is the Wii60. Not trying to begin a new discussion here but the point is, owning just the Wii will just make you beg for games and is pretty much self-torture.

When you own other consoles you've actually got some games to look for: Gears of War 2, Prince of Persia, Sonic Unleashed, Call of Duty WW, Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie, Halo Wars, Red Alert 3, Spiderman Web of Shadows, Batman, F.E.A.R. 2, Far Cry 2, H.A.W.X. and this is just the freakin' beginning!

I agree with you both there. Nintendo just isn't as good as it use to be since they have targetted the casual audience. I am actually glad I decided to get a PS3.

At this point I couldn't recommend any hardcore gamer buy a Wii. I've told some of friends to get it with the disclaimer that it's only good for parties with friends. My combo of choice would be 360/DS.

Yeah you're right, lots of titles to go through.... yes, with over 90% of them still at freakin' full price! Cheapest console? Well not anymore technically but it has the most expensive games. I'm just repeating myself; Assassin's Creed for 25$ or Cooking Mama for 50$ ? Choice ain't that difficult...

That's the best example you could think of? I can think of better examples than that... Assassin's Creed sucked. lol

I have thought about getting a second console besides the Wii. However, I decided not to (for now at least). I am content with my Wii lately. i have plenty of games to finish. ALso being in college and working, i play games maybe 4-6 times a week. To be on topic, Nintendo unleashed their thunder early this year. There is nothing to look forward to this holiday. It is time to pick up some third party games.

Sucked? Come on, Rev. That's just silly. You might not have though it was great, but it was definitely good by any standard.

And here's a better example: Oblivion for $25 or Cooking Mama for $50? :P

I thought they gonna push Mario Kart Wii to a late release but instead they brought it out early in April and Brawl in March. They should have made Mario Kart there big name title for the holiday season. It was dissapointing by its standards but addictive.
