Now that the Wii has come out it has given some of you the chance to relive the glory days of "Old School" gaming threw the VC system. Now the question is which do you prefer playing onthe old consoles or playing threw the VC ?

Hmm, that's a tough one since playing It on the old console Is the way to go but I say playing the old c1assic on the VC Is the smarter route since you have everything you need In one place(thus eliminating the problem of having every old school console In your room as well as saving you the trouble of looking around for a c1assic rare game).

If possible it'd be better to play an old school game on its original console, mainly because of the controller difference.... some games don't adapt to the classic controller or GCN controller very well on the VC. However, convenience of having some of those games on one system will likely make me stick to playing it on the VC, unfortunately.

Ive said before that Ipersonally prefer the old but for todays gamers I would definitely suggest the Wii. Playing on the original is by far better then on a GC controller but if the Wii is all you got then it is in no way a loss specifically if you never played the respective game on its original console. Think about it if you play a game on the GC controller for the first time then chances are you won't notice a thing, plus you can play in the comfort that all minor glitches that can be seen in the originalsare fixed today so that every game runs as smooth as butter for you.

I'd rather play the game on its original console if I have it. I don't mind downloading it if I don't have the game though. Either way you're going to play the game so I doesn't really matter.

I'd say old, since you're playing the original game, with no "enhancements" that Nintendo sometimes likes to throw into the VC versions of games. Besides, the Wii's supply of classic games is pretty limited right now. ;)

Well I've got 10 VC games and 8 Wii games. Toward the beginning months of the Wii I would mostly play Zelda and Wii Sports, then later on VC games dominated my time, and recently I don't think I've touched them. So I spend most of my time with Wii games, but my Wii would be significantly worse without VC games.

Old games are good but the new ones like Mario Kart have online play but some of the best games around are old games like Super Mario World and Super Metroid.

I don't think that was what Smoke2Much was asking... I'm pretty sure he's asking what platform we'd prefer to play old school games on, the Virtual Console or the games original platform.

I prefer playing them on the original console. Because of the controller and just reliving the memories.:P But I don't download VC games if I have them on my SNES. It is nice just turning on the Wii to play and plug the controller in. Overall, I still would prefer them on their original console.

Admittedly, I've rebought games... many games, on the VC just for the convenience of having them on one single console, so I don't have to plug in a console everytime I want some old school goodness.

I don't like the VC for 2 reasons:

1. The games are overpriced.

2. I prefer to have a tangible product when I pay for something, not just a download.

I admit that it is annoying somewhat to hook up the console to play the old games. If I had easier access, I'd play them alot more. I would also rather save my points for I game I haven't played before. Like I was thinking of getting Super Metroid in the coming weeks and Metroid.

The games are only overpriced depending on how you look at it. A lot of the N64 games for download so far are worth the money, IMO. Some SNES games, like Super Metroid and A Link to the Past, are definitely worth the 800 Wii Points.

Do you absolutely have to buy the Wii points? Or is there a way to earn them for free?

You have to buy them with Wii points. In Europe there is a program to earn free Wii points, but I don't think it is running yet, and it's probably a long time before you'd get enough Star points to get enough to exchange them for Wii points.

I have got over 2000 Wii points left and am hoping that some top titles come out in Europe soon. I have Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time and Super Mario World which are games defenetly worth getting on the Virtual Console they are so good.
