Old games are good but the new ones like Mario Kart have online play but some of the best games around are old games like Super Mario World and Super Metroid.chocolate1325I don't think that was what Smoke2Much was asking... I'm pretty sure he's asking what platform we'd prefer to play old school games on, the Virtual Console or the games original platform.
I prefer playing them on the original console. Because of the controller and just reliving the memories.:P But I don't download VC games if I have them on my SNES. It is nice just turning on the Wii to play and plug the controller in. Overall, I still would prefer them on their original console.HyruleanLinkAdmittedly, I've rebought games... many games, on the VC just for the convenience of having them on one single console, so I don't have to plug in a console everytime I want some old school goodness.

I admit that it is annoying somewhat to hook up the console to play the old games. If I had easier access, I'd play them alot more. I would also rather save my points for I game I haven't played before. Like I was thinking of getting Super Metroid in the coming weeks and Metroid.
The games are only overpriced depending on how you look at it. A lot of the N64 games for download so far are worth the money, IMO. Some SNES games, like Super Metroid and A Link to the Past, are definitely worth the 800 Wii Points.I don't like the VC for 2 reasons:
1. The games are overpriced.
2. I prefer to have a tangible product when I pay for something, not just a download.

Do you absolutely have to buy the Wii points? Or is there a way to earn them for free?

You have to buy them with Wii points. In Europe there is a program to earn free Wii points, but I don't think it is running yet, and it's probably a long time before you'd get enough Star points to get enough to exchange them for Wii points.
