I think they should bring the SSB series to the DS! Here are my ideas for the controls,

A= Smash attack

B= B Attacks (Up B, Down B.)

Y= Special move

X= Jump

D Pad= move

L= Throw item

R= Grab

L+R= Tuant

Touch Screen= If you are holding a mine, Shell, bomb, Ect. You can draw a path with the stylus that the item will follow when you throw it.

What do you guys think?

good idea, but wont happen, cant happen.  Sakurai didnt even want to make SSBB, but Nintendo came to him and just sprung it on him so he decided to do it.  He made it clear that after that, he would begin doing work for third parties instead.  Is a SSB on the DS possible? Yes.  Would it be good without Sakurai's talents? No.

It was May of 2005 on the day before the opening of E3 (The Electronic Entertainment Exposition-the world's largest video game show).
It was near the location of this event at Nintendo's Show Preview where they announced their efforts for the coming year.
It was announced that Smash Bros. was being developed for Nintendo's new game system, (tentatively) called the Revolution.

The theater filled with applause.
But I thought "Huh?"

At the party afterwards many people spoke to me asking "So, you're gonna make a new Smash Bros.?" But I had heard nothing about it, and in fact at that point in time there was no Smash Bros. project in motion anywhere.

Now, I am the designer who gave birth to the Smash Bros. games, but I own no rights to the franchise. So if Nintendo says they will make Smash Bros., they absolutely can. So I saw nothing strange about it whatsoever, but...

Flashback to fall of 2003.
It's shortly after I've resigned from the company I had worked for: Hal Labs-the makers of Smash Bros.

I was in the office of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, my former boss at Hal Labs, for some idle conversation.

During the conversation, the topic of whether or not there would be a sequel to Smash Bros. came up.

This is what Mr. Iwata said:
"Smash Bros. was a game that came about through your connections because you, Sakurai, gained the understanding of a variety of people, so I don't think we be able to have just anyone create the game.
It is a franchise of great importance for Nintendo, so I can't promise you that we won't create a new game, but if we do I would definitely run it by you."

Because of these events, the announcement at E3 was a mystery.

Then one day during the E3 show...
I was called to the hotel where Mr. Iwata was staying, and I went to meet him in a room on the top floor.

The creation of a new Smash Bros. was for the most part decided.
I was called by Mr. Iwata and came here to meet him.
It didn't seem like grumbling would get things started...

"What would you like me to do?"
"I'd like you to be involved in the development of the new Smash Bros. in a position that is very close to a director-style position."

this comes straight from supersmashbros.com and Sakurai himself

They would have to change the stlye of SSB to make it work on the DS. For one thing there would have to be very small arenas or alot of zoom because it would be to hard to see your character. And if they decide to zoom in on your character you would not be able to see what is going on around you. And the DS doesn't have as much room for stages and characters so that would suck compared to SSBM/SSBB. I just don't think it is going to happen.

Actually screen size doesnot matter at all because you don't realy have to see what your character is doing and jumps would be quite visiblly obvious. I do agree however that the map would have to be small, plus too many players could get it to lag cause sometimes with four players it can do that on the consoles so it would be quite weird. I think its a great game that could be done, however it would miss out on so many bonuses so it would be a pretty much a step back and  that would ruin for somany people whomhave come to excpect more and more from the game.

If SSB ever comes to the DS I don't expect it to be online. Fighting games need quick reactions from players and so a very fast response time from the game. There is too much lag on Nintendo's WiFi system.

Oh and Revfreak I don't see any mention of Sakurai saying he wouldn't make another SSB game in that quote. Or that he was leaving Nintendo to work with 3rd parties. Did you miss the end of it or something. If so could you post it please? This is interesting.

I would agree about the lag statement, if WiFi wasn't free. There have been many rumours about patches to enhance WiFi, but none of them have actually been confirmed, so we're stuck with teleporting Mk racers, ''shot the breeze and get headshot'' imperialist users, and...well I dunno >____>. HOW DO YOU DO DAT TELEPORT CHEAT LAWL?
