As well all know the 3 big names of Nintendo are Mario,Zelda and Metroid(If you don't think so to bad :P !)Now let say tomorrow Nintendo announced that they were cutting 2 of them.Which one would you want to stay ?
I would say Zelda because I perfer it over the other franchises. But I think if Zelda is going to keep going and continuing to be a franchise Nintendo needs to rework the Zelda formula. The one developed for the N64 version of Ocarinia of Time is not going to cut it. So Nintendo would need to update the series by inclduding voice acting, but Link should not talk of course.
I would keep the Legend of Zelda, as I find it more immersive and intriguing than Mario games are, and dungeon-solving games like Zelda are the kinds of games I really like to play. :P
I really like all 3 franchises so this would be a tough one to decide on from that perspective. So I picked Mario just because of the sheer volume of Mario games and how often they come. I can count on a new Mario game on a semiannual basis whereas Zelda and Metroid games can be counted on my ten figures since their inception. Now even though quality counts I just can't miss out on future (Mario 3d adventure, Paper Mario, Mario Kart, or the hand-held platform adventures). Another thing is Nintendo is mostly know for Mario he is their Ronald McDonald for crying out loud, without him I think Nintendo would loose their biggest icon and cash cow.
PS: life without Zelda would be a tough one, but I could live without Metroid if another great IP replaced it, enough yammering from me, none of this will ever happen.
Wow, tough choice. Metroid games are deep and replayable, Mario games are just plain fun, but Zelda games... I think I'd go with that. They just have a certain magic to them, I can't even describe how great they are...
As much as I love the Legend of Zelda, I go with Mario. TP seemed to predict Zelda is going to be a very, very stale series, while Mario always finds new ways to re-invent the platformer. Not more of the same, but the same and more! That's how I like things!

Anyways I would much prefer Mario to keep running (I accidently voted Metroid, so Metroid = -1 Mario = +1) its just got to be my favourite. I'm not into "oldy" type game (World war games, zelda etc) I'm into the present and the future and Mario is both of that. Sure metroid is cool but I much prefer Halo to Metroid.
THAT is a tough question. Mario has a variety of games such as RPG, sports, or adventure. However, Zelda has that unique experience. I'd have to say Zelda because I enjoy everything about a Zelda game from the adventure, music, and dungeons.
It would have to be Mario. I love platformers. Many of my favorite games are Mario games. Favorite game is Super Mario World, closely followed by Yoshi Island. Zelda would be my second choice. They are really fun and quite long. But they can't beat the greatness of Mario.
