Its a gun...in a blade. Now don't get me wrong...it's stupid and pointless! I mean it could have easily just been a sword, but no, they had to throw the gun in, and only two people in the whole of FF8 world weilded them, and they seemed to be rivals. Surely if the swords were so great more fighters would have them, and why can you only fire a shot when you slash an enemy, does not disable the point of a gun.
MY GOD!! I mean Squall exhausted himself half the time by having to trot over to the enemy, hit them, pull the trigger, then giggle all the way back!
Anyway, I got bored and thought I would rant about something and then i seen Squall smiling, which he shouldnt, he is an emo!
The way it is designed, the thing is meant to be held with one hand, which presents all sorts of problems. The thing is too large to be a single handed gun or sword, and you have no place to put your other hand because you would be holding the blade, which would cut you. The end result is it being completely useless both as a gun and a blade. IT is just horrible, horrible weapon design.
why is everyone ranting it??? Ive never seen one in movies and Fnial Fantasy are good with original things, I liked the gunblade...also the fact you had to shoot at the right time to hit the enemy... nd hows Squall Emo?
He is emo as he is always wanting to be alone, everyone is to troublesome and his life sucks and there is nothing gd about it...also you can tell by his face he is emo. I mean....who wears that type of jacket and isnt emo!

The keyblade is not na FF invention. Anyway, the weapon that Riku uses could actualy be counted as a real blade, but not Sora's. Riku's weapon basically doesn't resemple a key at all, really.

hey guys, i think squal's gun blade is crap.. but the gunglades that weiss uses in DoC are awesome! i mean, it's a *** sword, and fires conveniently, what's not to love about it? it's actually usable, although i don't see how it can be made in real life.
Squall's gunblade is just as fake as Cloud dual wielding those section lock blades, or mages using magic, or being able to breathe under water. Have to look past the realism, since it is Final FANTASY lol. I actually like it. One of the most unique weapons in FF. I know not everyone likes it and they're entitled to their own opinion, though.
And you talk about Squall being emo, liquid, when you have who I think is the most emo person in FF history in your sig, Vincent.

i agree with weezer. the gunblade is a very creative invention by final FANTASY. i also think it looks pretty cool too. however, i also agree that it's size in the game is too big

It may be fantasy, but it is still a really bad invention. It does nothing really, and the only good thing about it is the look. SPOILERS FOR VINCENT A WEE BIT And, your calling Vincent emo. Nevermind his troubled past where the woman he loved died giving birth to the monster that would bring down mankind due to an experiment he could not stop, and when he tried to, he was shot and turned into a monster, by her might I add. His past is troubled, and he has been alone to himself for about 30 years, he isn't emo, as he doesnt all go 'I dont want this...blah blah blah!'
very creative, but the dumbest weopen i ever heard of, but cool, dont dont make sence of shooting the guy while hitting him, but the i love the extra damage. It stilll sucks though. The best weopen in FF would have to be the Masamune.
As far as the stupidest weapon in FF. That honor has to go to Wakkas blitzball. What kind of idiot is going to run up to a dragon and huck a modifided vollyball at it.
