I've had many friends joke about the number of FF games in the main series, saying stuff like "What game are they on right now, like the thirtieth?"

Final Fantasy has to end eventually; question is: when will that be? Surely they can't go to Final Fantasy L, that would be ridiculous.

Your thoughts?

Thye are going to keep hammering nails into it's coffin until people quit buying it. I thought X-2 was as bad as it could get. They made Dirge of Cerberus just to prove me wrong.

We have a simillar topic like this again

"Final" Final Fantasy....?

Please make sure to look at our board to see if we have a topic simillar or the same as the one you are creating.

But anyway...I think i agree with val.....it will last till people are sick of it. As long as people buy they will continue to make....and they will continue to make money as well.

Well I mean, it's very laughable because in reality the FF series was supposed to end with Final Fantasy I.

very true indeed...though because of its high sales...Square decided to make another...which just continued the connecting of the dots to where we are now at the making of a FFXV

More info on FFXV in this topic:

Final Fantasy XV? Everything we know about it is....

Well, I assume this is in response to XIII getting complaints and XIV getting bad reviews.

If Square is smart enough to learn from their mistakes, they can do a few things to get back on track.

I think they should never multiplat another main series FF game. And before anyone starts moaning, wait until Versus comes out and you'll see that it will have all the elements that XIII lost.

Also they either need to give up on MMO's or at least not hype XIV to be a rival to WoW. That hype is what caused gamers to have such high hopes for XIV.

Lately Square has tried so hard to fix a formula that wasn't broken in the first place:roll:

LOL yeah i agree, FFXIV was so hyped and it was the number game based on hype for a long time because it was challangeing WoW but now when its out a disappointing 4.0 is given. I think they should have just upgraded FFXI more, rather than making another FF Online they should have just continued to work on FFXI because that is a good game it has an 8.5

They mixed the formula very well with XII and ignored it afterwards. From what I gather, the biggest problems people have with FFXIII are that it is linear as hell and the story does a poor job of explaining itself

yeah other games like FFXIII are as linear as well, and that tends to lower the rating by a lot

As well as it should. Extreme linearity is bad when making an RPG. One of the focuses of RPGs is and has always been exploration. That is, supposably, is not the only thing wrong with Final Fantasy XIII, though

In other words, they need to unmerge with Enix so they have competition in Japan once again. Their only serious competition is from the west in the forms of Bioware and Bethesda. Both are producing much MUCH better games than SE at a slower rate

Kingdom Hearts 2 was bland, poorly paced and poorly written with absolutely no challenge at all. The combat system was button mashy with no strategy, and there was no real exploration. The only reason the game stands out to anyone is because it has Disney characters.

In fact, the only good Kingdom Hearts game is Chain of Memories. It added depth and strategy to the battle system, so that it was not mindless button mashing. It, also had better writing on it's story and better pacing. It, still, had no exploration, though

Well the game did starred even more FF characters which inevitably gave the sequel the extra hype. Can't blame KH2 high reception due to Final Fantasy's reputation.

I must disagree, the battle system is fun and you don't notice how repetitive it is. The bosses are great. The story isn't the best but it certainly isn't bland. The game is very easy though but very long so that makes up for it.

well you see whenever maniamsmart comes in, he likes to see both sides of the story.

Battle System - It is button smashy that i have t admit, but because of the variety of enemies, and the way the battles are just formed it is not noticed that much. Though battles can sometimes be annoying which make it less fun, but then again there are times when your just in the modd to fighting and then the button smashyness is not really noticed.

Bosses - Cant really remember but I think they were alright, certainly not the best but heck decnet enough.

Story - Now here, KH2 didnt really have THAT great of a story, I think they just whipped out a story from the blue sky to make another KH game. It wasnt horrible, but you can tell that the story did not have enough effort put into it, but it was alright, not good though.

Perhaps the logic with button mashing is that people who disagree with you think it's considered an anger management aesthetic lol? You'd much rather take your aggression on a heap of buttons attacking virtual enemies rather then someone IRL :D

They shouldn't. There are hack n slash games worth your time (Diablo, Titans Quest, Sacred 2) but Kingdom Hears is not one of them.

I dunno if I'd call Kingdom Hearts average. Of course I've never played it, but based on reviews here and there (ignoring the ones in Japan since they have no credibility whatsoever) it has to be at least somewhat good, I guess.

The reasons as to why I won't pick it up:

 1) How can you take a game seriously when you have frickin' disney characters running around. I mean come on, seriously.

2) The thought of a little kid with gravity-defying hair and ogre-sized feet running around with a giant key is just plain retarded.  I mean, they call it a frickin' key blade but I don't see a frickin' sharp point on it at all. It's more like a pole with a key head at the end.

3) More on the key. What the hell? How do you turn a key into a weapon? Do Japanese people have some frickin'  key fetish or something? Weirdos. I'd understand fusing a chainsaw with a sword or something, but a key? The retarded meter explodes.

4) What the s*** is with all of these spin-offs? If it was just KH1 and KH2, then maybe I'd consider buying them. But we need all of these retarded other games to 'build' onto the story? Just release KH3 already if you want the real money.

5) I know we've all seen this in Final Fantasy games, but this takes it to a whole new level. Characters with weather-related names. Sora, Terra, Ventus, Aqua...and that's just of who I know, who the hell else knows what other characters have retarded names like that. Just give them real names; stop coming up with this bullcrap, nobody likes it.

6) Xemnas = Mansex

All done.

Regardless whatever presumptions you have, you best try it first before making excuses not to get it. The concept may look childish and unoriginal but experiencing it is what counts. You guys have to remember that KH's idea is purely based off Disney motifs with no intention to spark off any originality apart from gain disney fans (consisting mainly of juvenile consumers) to play the game.

This bit is good enough reason not to play it.

IT does not make the gameplay good or engaging. The gameplay is extremely bare bones and button mashy with no depth, challenge or strategy to it at all. It doesn't make any of the caracters in it well developed, and it does not excuse the extremely poor pacing and writing for the story

Kingdom Hearts has its good sides and bad sides. Every game does but you're making it seem as though everything it terrible with the series and clearly their isn't.

And it's probably the best Disney related game I have ever played.

It isn't terrible. It functions. IT is polished., It isn't buggy. It just is not good either. It is an average and generic game that suffers from poor design choices and pacing...and scripting
