like for example a friend comes over and picks up the controller and can do some kind of co up quest,or a friend can bring his memory card and play in a (split screen) and go farming in different directions, there are so many ways that they can make the multiplayer work wonders,  please tell me what kind of multiplayer u think will be really nice in this game and why...peace

multiplayer in FF? I think i've seen this idea before. But, other than having a party, with a few characters, and two players controlling the different characters in the party, turn-based, i really can't see any multiplayer co-op in FF, or rather, in any other RPG. RPG, i would say, is a pretty much, self-centred, game. You want the charactes developed your way. You want the characters with the equipment you want them to have. You want the story to unfold at your own pace. In other words, i really don't think mp would work in FF. Unless, some sort of "FFXI" thingy, that allows PVP. Some kind of battle mode, with the characters you have, on your own memory card.

first off... FFCC never got good reviews from players... and i myself haven't tried it out, due to the fact that i don't own a GC. But, i've heard complaints about music, and graphics. and a pretty linear gameplay and style. Prove me right or wrong fs_metal? you seem to know something about it.

It did not get good reviews from players because A) It was hack n slash (dumbest reason ever) and B) no one bothered to play it CORRECTLY. There is only one way to play that game, and that is multiplayer. Everyone that I know that has played it multiplayer loved it. Everyone else didn't like it.

Graphically, it is one of the better looking FF games. That's not debatable.

Why would someone complain about FF being linear. They are all as linear as games get, especially FFX. You don't even travel back and forth in that game. It is a straight line poretty much through the entire game. FF: CC is significantly less linear than that, because you will travel back and forth between the levels

apart from the fact that i don't have a GC. A multiplayer game never catches my attention. What's the multiplayer like? I'd love to know. :) Lots of teamplay? Or just some battle modes?

True, a lot of players never got the full potential of the game, but some did including me.

A) Why did some professional reviews bash the hack 'n slash gameplay?

The answer is easy. Just because it's hack 'n slash doesn't mean it is not allowed to evolve, like every other gaming element. Look at what happend to the Gaunlet series as it kept the same derogatory formula throughout the ages, and then look at the success of Devil May Cry, which revamped the gaming element by itself.

B) What about the multiplayer aspect? Was it great? Why did no one play it correctly?

The multiplayer fun of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles was indeed great, so why did no one bother with it? That question is answered by the fact that it takes somewhere around $300-$400 to be able to achieve the full potential out of the game. To get full effect of this game with four people, it requires you to have (1) Gamecube, (1) copy of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, (4) Gameboy Advances (or SP), and (4) GBA Link cables. Even if a group of people have all the necessary equipment, it's safe to assume it's gonna be a hassle to always assemble all of it for the game alone. It's not something you can pick up and play and truly finish in a few hours. That's the reason why 4-player console games are usually geared toward FPS, Racing, and SSB.

Overall verdict:

-All the good points earned by the fun multiplayer of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is easily taken away by the high cost and assemblage.

-The game was designed from the upstart with the multiplayer aspect in mind and no consideration was made for when playing the game solo. This leaves playing the game solo, highly unsatisfying, as the basic level of hack 'n and slash implemented are not best suited for single player.

-Advice. Never buy all the equipment on your own, that's just a major no-no. If by chance you live in a circle of friends that can each provide thier own set of equipment, then Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is at least worth a rental and a definite must-buy if you are a Final Fantasy enthusiast.

PS: Draw straws to determine who buys the copy of FF:CC,.

okay... :| does anyone has anything to say against Rai's statement? From what i'm seeing from two posters here, it seems like the only good points for CC is not at all that good. Besides that, i don't think i have that large a group of friends who own various consoles for me to play the MP mode with.

^ uh... battle modes? Teamplay would be a much better answer, as that is the focus of the game with all the coordination needed for the lamp-bearer and fusing of spells. FF:CC multiplayer can to a limited extent be alikened to a offline MMORPG.

offline MMORPG.... reminds me of FFXII. But, i reckon it's nothing like FFXII. Still, MP games always turn me off. And, if it is the MP element that is making FFCC an enjoyable game, then i believe it wouldn't be of much value to me.
