sorry these questions might seem convoluted. i haven't played it yet, ff12, but if u've played or know anything about the japanese version i'm wondering if shiva is in this game? if so, plz provide some links to pics, i wanna compare her to... herself from ff10. and if not, i'll be really upset cuz she's my favorite and often the first summon i get in most ff games i've played.

I am pretty sure that there are only like the 2 summons or only like 2 people that can summon or something like that. I remember reading that only the 2 guys can and that they each have like one summon but I haven't played it and can't confirm it.

Any character you control can summon... but you'll have to choose who can summon which esper. The esper will appear on the license board, only one character [you can choose which one] can acquire the esper by taking up that grid the esper is on, after which, the esper will disappear from the license board. After you defeat another esper, it will appear on the license board, it will disappear after the character you choose acquire the esper. :)

I think there are no limits as to how many espers one character can have. But, it's better to have more than one character have an esper each.

I guess a good question is what summons are there in FFXII, since you have multiple ones how many are old ones and how many are new? That should help to figure out if Shiva may be there to get.

i think the the espers have names that eppeared in some older FFs and FFT... Common names like Shiva, Bahamut, are actually names of something else now... Shiva is the name of an airship, and Bahamut is actually the name of a Sky Fortress in Final Fantasy XII !

Two of the summons, which i've attained in the game, are "Belias" and "Mateus". By following the main story, and skipping the optional espers, you should be able to get other espers like "Semihaza", "Hashmurim" and "Famfrit".

There are 8 more espers that you can get by going to other places on your own will...

And, it's almost confirmed that there is no summon named Shiva ... maybe you'd like to check Echang's FAQ?

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/final_fantasy_xii_a.txt

According to this FAQ, there are 8 more optional summons whose names are:

Adramelk, Kyukrain, Zaruera, Exdeath, Zeromus, Chaos, Altima and Zodiac. I think some of these names appeared in previous games like FF IV, FF V and FF Tactics [same producer as FFXII] .

No way, no boos. I think it is a unique thing to throw out the old to try and bring in the new. I mean they have been switching up random summons for years now. In FFVI the multi elemental summon was Tritoch, in FFVII it was Kajta. In FFVIII you could summon Diablos but no Lich or Hades. You could summon Choco/Mog in FFVII, Tonberry and Catuar in VIII, and in FFIX they brought back Rahum after dropping him in VIII for Quezactl. Odin dies in FFVIII and is replaced with Gilgamesh. In FFX you only get a few summons total, with Ixion taking the Lightning place, Yojimbo filling in for Gilgamesh I guess, and Valefor is just like hanging out from nowhere. Alot of the names I recognize for the summons are indeed FFT based characters, although it is odd because most of those guys in FFT were demons, and not friendly summons. So taking that world into account when creating the summons is cool, outside of the fact that all the summons in FFT were the regular summons outside of the optional Zodiac.

Correction: They're not boo-ing the game, they're boo-ing me. Because i didn't put ***SPOILER*** warnings before telling them everything. I realized my mistake, and i boo-ed myself too. So, care to join in? Boo me? ooo..... :?

Honestly, i don't mind skipping some common summons for one title, inviting them back for the next title in the series will give a "WOW!!!" feeling... Just like seeing all these summons, that were from some older FFs and missing from the recent ones... it gives an "Oh my god!" experience. Although they don't look quite the same as the older ones, because of the poor graphic technology they had back then.

I really wanna ask if they look good, the summons in FFXII, but I don't want everyone to get mad and boo me for asking more about things they want to find out about themselves, but really it doesn't matter much to me, the story will be there or it won't, and knowing which summons are around isn't going to affect the game for me, I just wanna know if they look tight.

Yeah, Zodiac is like the super summon and I would say they don't let you jut walts in and take it. I mean if it is on the same power scale as Zodiac in FFT then it is going to make the other summons seem more or less pointless, except maybe the other high end ones. I was looking stuff up about them after asking my question and so I now at least know which summons are there and where they seen to fall on the power chart.
