Well, since not one person on the planet has yet to confirm whether the Asia version has english subtitles, I have taken the plunge and ordered it for $90!

Since most Asia versions of Japanese games at least have english subs, I figure it's worth a shot.

If not, I am currently learning Japanese with Rosetta Stone which is awesome:) I'm learning a good amount and if XIII doesn't have subs, it's just more reason for me to spend more time on Rosetta Stone!

I will post the results as soon as it arrives(from Hong Kong):? LOL.

I guess I'm just too curious for my own good:P

Remember to separate the "desu" from the "desu ka" and you will be halfway to understanding the whole game.

Learning katakana will help also.

Just hope that they never use counters because that is when things get complicated...

LOL, I wish it was that easy:P

and luckily Rosetta teaches you to read katakana and does a great job of it:)

So you seem to know some stuff Darmi? How long have you been learning?

Interesting.  I look forward to seeing your results...I'd be curious as to why they'd add English subtitles to Japanese games...We don't do the opposite here. :P

But I'd be willing to order it for that price and buy a PS3 if it had English subs.

The reason is because this is the ASIA version. It's intended for pretty much all Asian countries besides Japan. Since English is a fairly common language in many of these countries, many Asian versions of Japanese games have Englich subs and some even have English language such as Demon Souls and Bayonetta.

I'll post as soon as I get it as to whether it has subs or not:)

so des ne angelbless-san:)  Btw, how did your Japanese classes go?

OH! Do you use SKYPE by any chance??? All you need is a microphone for your PC and we can talk for free. I think we should all start using that, it would be lots of fun to practice japanese and talk about games and such!

Also I shall call USPS tomorrow and see what's going on with the refund:roll:

Alright sounds good.  I didn't realize it was fairly common there. That's weird. If it does that's pretty awesome.

So it has arrived!

and no English subs:x

I kinda expected this though. I will now be learning Japanese even faster!

I do not intend to just play the game without understanding the story, so I will play just a little here and there in between learning Japanese. I've started learning to read and that has helped with the battle menus.

The game will help motivate me to learn as I want to play it really bad.

SO far, the graphics seem slightly improved from the demo in April. Facial detail is amazing:) Better than Uncharted 2 imo. The opening CGI video is really cool and looks phenomenal. The battle system is a little different from the demo and seems more limited(this is probably due to it being the full game and some skills and options will be earned later).

I will let you know more as I progress further:)

I'm playing it as well and I don't know any Japanese, but I'm using a guide that translates the cutscenes and I'm doing pretty well so far. I'm on Chapter 5: The Gapra Whitewoods. It's a pretty good game I must say.

Very nice:) You have gotten farther than me so I was wondering what you have to say in regards to the "Complaints against FFXIII" thread on this union board???

I already know that some of it is not true. Maybe you can debunk some of it as well?

Yeah I mean text uses pretty much NO SPACE on a disc:?

My speculation is that MS didn't pay Square enough to get the game in Japan and figured that if the Japanese version had subs, it would entice many FF fans around the world to import the PS3 version to play it early(some of these people could have been potential buyers of the 360 version).

Thnaks again MS:x

LOL, yeah I was going crazy on it.

I just want to try it out and don't want to spoil anything until I can read and understand Japanese better, so my strategy has been to skip all cut scenes and avoid as many enemies as possible:P

Now I am at the point when Lightning and Hope must fight Odin to claim him as a summon..........and I'm getting KILLED over and over:cry: I'm trying different strategies so we'll see:)

And Balmane, you should download the Resident Evil 5 demo which has 2 player online co-op, then we can play:) Do you have a bluetooth headset???

I had trouble with him as well. The first few times he just killed me within the first five seconds.

If you're still stuck at that part, a good strategy is to equip thunder resistance braclets before the battle. Have your optimas set to BLA/ENH, BLA/HLR and BLA/BLA. Have hope cast protect on both Lightning and him, and any other Enhancing spells he has. Then switch to BLA/HLR and wail on Odin with magic. If at any point both characters have full HP, switch to BLA/BLA to make the Drive gauge fill faster, but be sure to watch your HP as Odin can decrease it really fast.

I am definatly getting this game the first day it comes out! Also I don't think you can get the Resident Evil 5 demo in Europe :(

There are a lot of expats in the orient.  I remember from my time there that  The Philippines and Thailand have English speaking residents who live in enclaves and many speak only English (or French, or German) but mainly English which means they can not haggle and pay "tourist prices" at the local shops.   And must have a girl friend to even order a pizza.

I am interested in Rosetta Stone but am am trying to decide on which language to do first.   Polish or Farsi.  I know more Korean but fewer Koreans:P

We do not add Japanese subtitles because the chance of Japanese speaking players that do not know English is rather low while the opposite is not true over there.

I have an account with Play-Asia  but between Disgaea3, Silent Hill:Homecoming, Fallout3, and Oblivion I have enough to keep me busy until Gamestop calls to tell me that FF XIII has arrived.8)
