2D? I may have to say FFVI catches on quickly. BUT, playing the earliest titles, like FFI and II, it gives you a very cool feeling. Something traditional.

Of couse everyone should know each person has a different depiction of what is the best of Final Fantasy even in 2D.

The general consensus though is that Final Fantasy VI is indeed the best not only in 2D but in all of theFinal Fantasy installments. Although it's not my favorite, I too, consider Final Fantasy VI to be the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy franchise as of yet.

I didn't enjoy VI very much. Although I did only play it for about 2 hours I admit. My favorite of the 2D FF is V. I did everything in that game. And I mean everything.

There is no version better than the SNES version. That one owns all. FFVI has the most beautiful scene in FF history

FFVI is not slow. ARe you refering to the load times. which seemed too long for such an old game? that is the only thing even a little slow about that verion of FFVI

Have you actually played it? It had the darkest FF story until XII. The story is absolutely fantastic and NOT character driven. If it had been character driven, it still would have been just as good because it had top notch character developement. It had the most evil and best villian of all time, Kefka. The game had an excellent sense of humor. The music was breath taking. It was very long, and there were tons of side quests. Tehre is very little that one can honestly say is wrong with the game, and all that is wrong with it is only minor gripes

FFI had alot of story man. You have to take into consider the time period it was made in and all the other storys that surround it. FFI is incredibly complex and deep for a NES game.

kefka made me laugh though. he was so evil that i found him funny. the hot and cold killing game and saying that the esper remains were warm to touch.
