This is a very difficult question, but a very interesting one.
On NES FF III was the best game, on SNES FF VI was the best and on PS1 FF IX was the best one. For me, these games surpassed the other FF games on their current console. I love both FF X and FF XII very much. They are equal to me, but they both had an advantage over eachother. FF X had a better story and FF XII had one of the best localizations ever.
These are all my opinions, so go easy on me.
You do know that I will now hate you right? Nah, just kidding with ya!
The best FF on PS2 is deffinaltey X in my eyes. XII had a better battle system, but X had the Sphere grid, and that was an amazing idea, and I loved the story. It was deep, revealing and emotional. The story in XII was not good, not good at all, it had WAY to many holes. It's like they tried to make a VII, but when they made VII I don't think they made all the holes in the story with intention. But in XII they did, and the story suffered from it
All the PS2 games had some great things (except FFXI but I already posted about its not-being-everquest ways, and yes that includes FFX-2) but overall FFX is my favourite on PS2.

I think you should go with FFXII to keep the multiples of 3 thing you have there :)
Hhhhmmmm, i play my PS1 version of VI through my PS2, does that count??
Â
Im going with X, the story and the sphere grid made it a better experience for me!
I'd go with FFXII. X was good, but I prefered XII's story, world, battle system, and even the characters to FFX.DrAwesomeMD
I don't see how the story was better. The story in XII was just a big mess, it was a nice story telling and the plot was brilliant, but how you gor further in the story was a big failure. You got some new information, and then they just ditched that part and kept on the main story.

And that is what I would have done, but then Matsuno left and the potential of the story was lost. FF XII was great and it would have been my favourite FF if they just let Matsuno fulfil his vision. Instead they brought in the FF CC guy and he messed up the story. The story is good all the way to the Leviathan and then it gets worse. I do love the world, battle system and the game has many interesting characters. Now FF XII has to share the top spot with FF X for best PS2 game.
It seems in this union FFXII is very underrated...Balmane
Not underrated, but rated correctly!
The story is weak, in almost ever aspects, it's starts of strong, but get worse and worse every second. The ending scene is one of the brigh sides, and it's not even that good if you ask me. The ending in X is epic, and not sure if any game can beat it.
TWELVE !!! TWELVE!!!! ^_^
Graphics, characters, story, battle system, etc...
it's not perfect, but it's near-to-perfect. It's what a Final Fantasy should be like~

Exactly!! All the characters are great except Vaan, everything else is superb.
But if FFIX was on PS2 I would go for that.Â

Even Penelo? Whose sole contribution to the plot was getting captured?
Though on the other hand getting captured is par for the course in FFXII. That's all you seem to do.
Penelo was cool... Vaan wasn't..Â

Agreed!
They had a great story, but a lousy way at getting you along the path. Which was bad, and that ruined the story for me. It was good, I will agree, but saying it was great it going far. It was to many holes in the story, to many silly things we didn't even need to know. Small things that ruined the story!

I agree, when you played it was great, it left you waiting for more and made you keep on playing, but when the game was over I sat there with way more questions than answers, sometimes this is great, but here it was horrible, it just didn't fit the game.
The answers were probably in Revenant wings but I never played that.Balmane
I haven't played it either, but as far as I know the stories isn't conected that much. Thats what I have read, so it might just be wrong ofc.Â
I think the best FF on PS2 is FFXII. Why? Cause it got great fighting system and beatiful graphic , and also great story :))
Thanks me if you are a good guy or not :))
