Majora's Mask for me.
Ocarina of Time was a great game, but most of it's enjoyment came from the fact that it was everyones first 3d (and for a lot of people their first ever) Zelda game. I started with Zelda much earlier in the series, back in the NES days so I didn't have as much of that new feeling as some. Ocarina is still an amazing game, absolutely amazing, but I don't feel that it's quite the same level of maturity that Majora's Mask had.
Majora's Mask was dark, mature, challenging and deep. It was meant for hardcore gamers, it was meant for Zelda fans. The side quests took more time than the main story, some of them so deep and intensive that they took entire 3 day spans on their own, the characters had emotion, they acted out their lives day to day and your actions could change lives. From Anju and Kafie's marriage to the Swordmaster who would confidently swear he could slice the moon in half, to finding him hidden in the back of his store during the final 5 minutes, a broken man crying in fear.
Ocarina, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker just didn't have that kind of emotion or maturity which is the reason I will stand by my statement that Majora's Mask is the greatest 3D Zelda game, and possibly the greatest Zelda game ever.

i agree with u! it took so long for some of those sidequests that i almost gave up, and some where really hard. and the emotional factor of the game really made me want to fight on for the survival of Termina even tho its just a made up pixilized worldÂ
Now, when you said "it was meant for Zelda fans", it kind of made me disagree because, well, Zelda wasn't even IN it except for being in a flashback in the beginning of the game. And the game is "Legend of ZELDA", not Legend of Termina, Legend of the Happy Mask Salesman, Legend of Majora, or anything else. Don't get me wrong, it was a great game, but it wasn't even the story of Zelda. Just a sequel. You don't use "masks" to defeat Ganon, you use a sword! And what do you mean by "mature"? TP was probably the most "mature" Zelda game EVER! And it was more "dark", that's for sure. So was ALL the other 3D Zeldas listed in this poll. Maybe not Wind Waker so much, but it was very dark near the end! Challenging, yes, pretty much just as hard as MM. All of them were. I say OoT is the hardest. It was a great game, but it can't be the best Zelda ever if it isn't even the Zelda story.Majora's Mask for me.

You haven't played Majora's Mask have you?
wow, just thinking about it, and they are all so good.
WW was my first
OoT is widely regarded as the greatest, and was a great game
TP was fun, darker, and interesting, but not great, exactly, though i loved it
MM is my most anticipated, i haven't downloaded it yet

I'm sure I won't. I'm up for increased difficulty and darkness or whatever they throw at me. It can't be bad in my eyes.
I'll vote WW for now. Just cause it was my first. OoT is also great.
The Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. It had amazing graphics and gameplay, and a surprizingly deep story, that I think is one of the best in the series. It's a shame that the graphics put off so many potential players.Yonathin3155
I don't think it put off as many gamers as people think. It got a lot of bad rep when the art design was introduced, but once the reviews started coming in, and word of mouth spread that it was awesome, a lot of people who were disrespecting the art style (including myself) picked ourselves up a copy. WW retained the record for 'most pre-ordered game in history' until Halo 3 I believe.

I have a feeling it might have put off casual gamers more than fans - but being more appealing to children it still got good sales figures.
