I think doing voice acting wouldn't really be a problem. Of course you wouldn't have Link speak, and probably not Zelda. But if you look at Half Life 2, that game was an amazing game because of things like the voice acting. Also, Gordon Freeman never spoke a word.On the other hand, bad voice acting would detract from the game... and the US has a history of bad voice acting/dubbing.
Personally, I'm fine either way but I don't think voice acting would really detract from the game.

If I heard Link say ANYTHING LIKE "I'm so hungry, I could eat an Octorok!" in that annoying voice again, I would personally search for the N-Team, join them, travel to Hyrule and slay him myself.
