Well it may seem cliche to say Link, but thats what id have to go with, I love him his story, just his character overall, greatest hero of all time. My favorite is obviously ocarina of time, he wakes up one day and bam, weight of the world on his shoulders. And what does he use to take on such a big problem, the basics, sword, shield, and alot of courage (the triforce of courage to be exact) He's simply the best.
In The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Vaati's motivation was power. But in Four Swords Adventures and Four Swords, he spends most of his time kidnapping young maidens for his own pleasure and his motivation is simply lust.Wikipedia's article on Vaati
Finally, a bad guy that kidnaps girls for realistic use. Much better than Bowser I do say. Overall, I say Vaati has some of the most realistic and achievable goals out of all villains. Think about it, all those bad guys that strive for the destruction of the world or controlling the known universe all fail and nothing was gained out of their plans. Vaati on the other hand was raping... err, reaping the benefits of his goals the entire time we were questing to stop him. He actually succeeded in what he was trying to do in the 4 swords games, even if he was stopped eventually.
