Im trying to play every zelda game but I cant do it with the GBA because you need to play with other people and I just dont know anyone else with the game, let alone anyone I wouldn't feel awkward with playing a zelda game for 10-12 hours together

I found out Four Swords Adventure has single player, but is it the same game as the GBAs four swords?

It pisses me off how much more Nintendo catered this game towards children then anyone else, i don't think i'll ever find 3 other college students who have the time to play zelda with me for 12 hours. Please tell me the games are exactly the same

That's pretty dissapointing... In order for me to play four swords, I need to find 3 other people, who have four swords for GBA, and see if they wanna play with me for 12 hours. WOW

**** you Nintendo. There's more people to cater to than children.

Playing in such a matter doesn't mean it was intended for children. It's quite enjoyable to be honest.

I don't know if its the same game (according to full_metal it isnt so probly its not), but I just recently finished playing the four swords adventure on the GameCube and I do own 2 hook-ups, but only one GBA to play, so I just played solo with my normal controller and it proved to be really fun. But I do share your feelings of disappointement towards nintendo, the GBA multiplayer only seems a bit excessive and not cool if you wanna play with buddies who arent really gamers, but the way they made the game, it makes sense to use the gba for each player. However, the game was a blast in solo mode, not too long, easy, but immersive, got me hooked for a couple straight days when I had time to kill I picked up my controller.

If there wasnt the gba connectivity related to this game and it could be played multiplayer with the normal controllers, I don't think you would have much of a hard time to find friends to help you in a hack and slash game. I'm in college also and I find some friends to play with me, even thought I'm the only one who shows a certain knowledge for the gaming world.

Peace.

sure it does, who is more likely to have 3 friends who have gba's and four swords, and all the time in the world to play the entire game with all 4 people together? certainly the only demographic that can do this are kids, I'm a 20 year old college student, I know like 1 other person with a gba, and he's certainly not anyone I would spend more than an hour with. and in order to play this game the requirements are outrageous, 4 people, not 3, FOUR, have to play the whole, yes thats right the ENTIRE FREAKING game with eachother. So if you're a full time student with a part time job, you have little to no time, and then you have to work out your schedule with the 3 other people. it's insane, the only chance I have is to play this game is if Im willing to spend a lot of my free time with strangers, which sucks. it's a shame because I was hoping to play every zelda game

I don't understand quite yet, You can play the whole game solo, you don't need to be with 3 other people, and even while your playing solo, you can always include from 1 to 3 friends during your adventure at any time really. Every time you load up your game they ask you how many players will be playing, what mode you want and all. I had no friends to help me in the game, but I was able to finish it alone quite nicely. I even thought alone was great, because you get to control 4 links and work with the positionning of your links and all, it may also be easier, since you don't have 2 of your friends trying to attack you to get your ruppees (not ruppees, this is the second game not to use the word, but since I don't remember, oh well.).

four swords adventure for the gamecube is a completely different game from four swords for the gba

That's a bit harsh, for a game, that you need to have 4 of it to be able to actually play it.

That's your own personal circumstance, I'm 18 years old, and I have many friends with the game, and a GBA still. It's unfortunate for you but that still doesn't mean its only meant for those of the younger demographic. I'm pretty sure if you did have people around who could play, you'd love it. While, it can be an issue to play a full game, it was meant to be a multi-player only experience. So, it's just unfortunate, you aren't able to play it because it really is fun, and its appropriate that others play as well.

You know, I was thinking about this.... A DS version of Four Swords would be totally awesome.

Linking GBAs together was a pain, but with its WiFi function, it would be much easier to find people to play with on Nintendo DS.

I agree that it is unfortunate that it can't be played single-player, and I was hoping I would get to play all the Zelda games as well, however where I live I can hardly find four gamers, and I will have no change of finding four thas both has a GBA, like Zelda and want to play with me.

By the way, I think I read somewhere that Four Swords was named "A Link to the Past - Four Swords." Does that mean that it is basically the same game as A Link to thePast, just multiplayer?

Just wanted to pop in here in case -theCHUD- or anyone else interested in this game comes around. No, you do NOT need 4 players to play Four Swords. You can use 4 players, but the game will still start just fine with only 3 players or 2 players, and the levels will arrange themselves so that you still have enough Links: Statues appear to hold down extra buttons, blocks are only as wide as the number of Links you have, and so forth. So if you only have 1 friend who also has the game, that's enough to start playing.

What aggravates me is how the game doesn't make it clear that you could play with only 2 or 3 players instead; as shown on this thread, people will start up the game, realize it needs more than 1 player, then assume that it requires exactly 4 players because after all, doesn't the Four Sword split Link into four? But it turns out Link doesn't need to use the Four Sword's full power if he doesn't want to!

It is a different game but you only need 2-4 players so you only need one other person, I wish I could play with someone on that game two, I heard it was fun at multiplayer.

EDIT : I'm sorry I didn't see the messege above (only requires 2 players)

four swords is on the same cartiradge as a link to the past and is a seperate game. four swords has some things in common with a link to the past but it isnt a link to the past in multiplayer mode. and i also agree with people saying that the DS needs a four swords game.

yeah it really is a pain. i was only able to do it 2-3 years ago when i was 12ish. me and my friends had a sleep over and just stayed up all night finishing the game. it was actually rated one of the best games for game cube, and i can see why it was fun especially the dungeon puzzles, because if you start off with 4 people you need all of them to pass the dungeons. its a fun game but hard to get people you'd enjoy to spend that much time together. i agree with the whole ds thing. that would make the exp a lot better. all and all if you can find people to play with you i recommend it.

That is because the GBA went out 4 years ago, buddy. I don't even own one. Ds can play them, but not the multiplayer portions, because you can't use link cables. 4 swords came out a good while ago, not many people have it and a GBA anymore. Just play 4 Swords Adventures, you'll get most of the same things. The GC in one thing I do own, but no 4 swords. I don't need to play every one.

I still need to play

MM, LttP, the two Oracle games(have you played 'em?), 4 swords adventures, complete Link's Awakening(bet you haven't played that one), LoZ, Zelda II (bet you haven't played this one either)

so 8 in total, but I will probably only play 4 of them. maybe even less.
