Does anyone else forsee a Legend of Zelda Union Op/Ed ... "The meaning behind the name: Link" ? or something? :Pnuck44
I would write this if I wasn't going away for a month, starting tomorrow.
NO INTERNET FOR A MONTH.
I'll miss this place.

link is a bad name I've allways felt, because it is forgettable, which is why many people call him zelda.talon4001

Hang on, was it clear enough to tell if Link was using the exact same arm to use his arsenal in the original "The Legend of Zelda"? I'll have to check this out, I have the GBA Classic version of it, I barely play it since it's not as fun as it used to be, not to mention that it's very old now. :| Still, I'm just happy enough that I actually have the original, it's like a trophy. :DGenisk02

A friend of mine thought his name was Zelda, it was pretty funny when he meet the real Zelda in OoT and how she commented on how his name sounded familiar.
I think link is a dumb name too. But, I don't think that Nintendo was trying to create a memerable name, because the games are called The Legend of Zelda, not the Legend of Link. Link is just the hero that saves Zelda when Ganondorf, or some other nemesis, arises. I think Nintendo wanted to make Zelda the mainstay in the series rather than Link. Zelda is the one whom the story revolves, so.
Does anybody know if this is true?
My friend told me that in the original LOZ on NES, on the Japanese version, that our hero we now know as Link didn't have a name. He was just the unknown hero who saved Zelda. But American test groups didn't like it because the hero didn't have a name so they gave him one.
Also, does anybody know what his name is in the Japanese versions? Maybe in those his name means something that got lost in the translation?
Who knows really
