Midna Discussion.

Midna is the strange creature, featured in the new LoZ:'05 trailer, who rides Link while in wolf form. She appears to give Wolf Link some strange powers, such as a massive, powerful-looking leap and the ability to zap enemies. What role does Midna play, and is she good or bad? Does the headpiece she wears have anything to do with Majora? Is she the Twilight Princess?

guessing that Midna is chasing those werid black creatures dropped form the "black hole", and may be they are the origin of zelda/link's curse. the decoration and marks of her cloth looks like those in MM, could she be related to the creator of majora's mask? or majora's mask will be shown in twilight princess? it will be really nice if this game has some links to the MM

Ye! me too. MM mas is my favorite zelda, and i REALLY hope that Midna have a link to MM cause if you look, her eye is like Majora`s Mask. I will be IMPACTED, HAPPY, STUPID,etc if the game have links to Majora´s Mask.

I just hope that she buggers off Wolf Link's back so he can run free like a real wolf. I've said this many times on these boards....Astronomicus

it looks like you use midna's hair as a hand to open doors, and possibly attack, so that link can be more wolf like, but he/she is ugly, I think he should have been more like a wolfo so he could stand up to open doors and the like, but still be a wolf, I hope that the wolf is a fun addition that works well, and it isn't something that we will all fear, because I think it would be hard to make it control well.

Maybe it's just me, but the big hand coming out of Midna's hat reminded me of the hands that come out of the floor of dungeons and grab you, and teleport you back to the beginning of the temple.ZeldaFalcon

yes it does, Midna seems evil, so I wonder why he/she teems up with Link, although Link doesn't look as heroic when he's a wolf.

shacrob, nice to have my thinking be shared by u, yeah, MM is also my favorite zelda game and I do strongly hope twilight princess could be related to MM, since the released news tell it happens after OOT and before WW, besides twilight princess, what happened to link's adventure in this period? that's a personal travel involved by a MASK!! HOwever, Midna may not be the real origin or incarnation of Majora's mask(may be disappointing), if zelda's storyline strictly follows the offical manga(or vice versa) , the origin of Majora's mask was a dragon who controlled terminal field for centuries till it met a hermit hero, that hero beated drum melody and made the dragon danced for 3 days, the dragon died after the dance and the hero took out his feather-sword , cut the dragon's bone and sculpted majora's mask.

This, and the fact that Midna is captured at the start of the game, lead me to believe that, while Midna may be evil, other dark forces are trying to destroy her. Thus, she was imprisoned. Still, it will be interesting to see what is revealed next about this misterious character.

It has been confirmed that Midna is not Zelda. I also think the hawk theory has been disproven for Zelda.

Yeah I noticed when Aonuma was asked that question, he had a very .... strange.. look to him, that man is definatley hiding something, something cool I bet.

A lot of speculation surrounds Links companion in the new Zelda game, Twilight Princess. We know that when Link enters the Twilight Realm, he turns into a wolf and is captured. Midna then finds him and frees him. They then spend the rest of their time in the Twilight Realm together. We have also heard that Midna will be able to go to normal Hyrule in some shape.

Its this last fact that brings about all the speculation. If Midna does not enter Hyrule as Midna, then what will she be. In the same way that Link is turned into a wolf, perhaps Midna will also be turned into an animal. Perhaps some kind of transportation, like Epona for example.

Other ideas suggest that Midna will take the role of some item that Link can use. All kinds of ideas have been floating around, including the essense of the Master Sword. However, the one that seems most probable to me is that Midna will take the shape of the Lens of Truth.

The reason for this is that in the E3 2005 trailer, there is a scene where Midna is riding wolf Link in a underground sewer of some kind. Everything seems normal but then Midna notices some skeletal pigs (or something like that) biting away at Link. If she can do this in the Twilight Realm, it makes sense that she has a similar role in Hyrule.

Also, about Midna being the Twilight Princess, I always thought Nintendo said Zelda was the Twiliht Princess, but if they said she was one of the meanings, then that has a completely different prospects. I remember Nintendo also said that the title would be mysterious at first but that you would come to understand it later. If Midna and Zelda are both Twilight Princesses, then that quote would make sense.

Nintendo have more or less said that the Twilight Princess will be Zelda, they have said however that it will not be this simple. So Midna could also be a Twilight Princess... In the sewers those createures you see gnawing on Wolf Link are Rats, Ghost Rats.

when I read your post I thought that maybe midna was the hawk, but that wouldn't make sense, because Link has the hawk in the village, which is before he meets her. about the sewer, it's possible that Link is the one with the ability to see ghosts, because midna looks very confused, and then scared when the ghosts appear.talon4001

in a recent interview that can be found at www.gameinformer.com with anouma he said that Link and Midna are just using each other when they first meet, and later their relationship becomes more friendly.

If you had seen the Cinematic sequence where the little boy gets kidnapped, you wouldve seen Link get sucked into the black vortex (leading to Twilight Realm) by a black hand.

well they have shown zelda in the twilight realm, and haven't shown her out of the twilight realm, so she would have to wear a costume that made her shrink.
