i would be cool if ever move you did link did but they wouldnt do it coz to many people wouldnt do the spin attack or anything that means you have too move more than your armsAds6
They could combine it in a way. Like let's say the spin attack is like in TP and maybe some special attacks use Z-targeting and some buttons, but the rest is completly motion based.
I think that they will use it too, maybe just for boss fights and things of that nature. But the extent that they'll use it is anyone's guess. And since Nintendo is into accommodating everyone, my guess is that they game will easily be playable without the +. Sword duels would be awesome! Can you imagine dueling with Gannondof, a gerudo, or someone else? How about the sword Master?HylianHeart*imagines sword fights**drools*

LOLor they could add an option to use it or not :)Al_Elric
I doubt they would. I think it seems like a good idea and it would be a way to make sure people could enjoy it in the way they liked the best, however so would it be to add diferent dificulties (I think next to everybody on this board in begging for more challenging dificulty), and they haven't done that either.
I think it would be cool for the next Zelda game to use + but they would probably make it optional since not every one will have it.Anime-Beast

to what extent could motion plus be used? would you have to move your arms to draw your bowstring. i'm a bit skeptical, but we'll see when it comes out.thrubeingcool13
Personally I'm anticipating something along the lines of the Elder Scrolls series for gameplay, except utilizing motion controls to swing your sword.

i've never played elder scrolls so i don't really kno wwhat you mean.
Hmm, you should probably go play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, arguably one of the best games this generation.

i'm probably not going to end up playing that game(don't have xbox360) but it looked pretty good. if zelda went in the same direction it would be like they stole the idea from elder scroll. and i think that the zelda team wants to come up with something completely original for the next zelda.
A first person RPG isn't exactly a trademark-able idea. I'm surprised that the concept hasn't been ripped off more, but I think it would be beneficial to both parties for the Zelda team to do that. The Zelda team would be able to use the field experience of Bethesda, and Bethesda would be able to take some original ideas that will indubitably come from the Zelda game and incorporate them into Elder Scrolls V.
Oblivion is also on PS3 and PC btw.
Hmm... I'm not sure that 1:1 sword-fighting will be the best way to apply WiiMotion Plus to the next Zelda.
I'm sure it will be fun at first, but think of how tedious it would get when you enounter armored enemies with a certain weakspot. You'd have to attack manually with the precision of a surgeon every single time. All while the enemy is moving and attacking you. :x
Personally, I'd rather get unique items that weren't possible before with a standard controller. Something cool like say, a whip or a violin. :P
i never thought of that. the whip is a good idea, but maybe the violin should stay in wii music.
thrubeingcool13
I haven't played Wii Music, but from what I've heard it's just waggle controls. I'm talking about playing violin similarly to the real thing, the kind of control that only Wii Motion Plus would allow.

No! Oh my god, Nintendo released that test with Twilight Princess in FP, and everyone's getting all excitied. No! Changing Zelda to FP is a bad idea. Nintendo has ruined enough of their ****c games, I don't want them to ruin Zelda too.
Plus, I played a bit of Oblivion, I never saw what the big deal was. I mean, the graphics are nice, but the gameplay is stale, like every FPA and FPS that has come out in the last, like, fifteen years. It's an extremely deriative genre that lacks a great deal of depth and I'd hate to see one of my favorite game series go down that road. This is not to say that their aren't some exceptions, like Metroid Prime; but those exceptions are few and far between.
I've actually been pretty disappointed with the line up of games on this current generation of consoles; nothing has really wowed me. But I would say the best two games are definetly Little Big Planet and MGS4, Oblivion doesn't even come close to those games.

Sounds like you are a bit too attached to nostalgia in your games. This last year has been mind-blowing for good games. I haven't even been able to keep up. Metal Gear Solid 4 is rife with nostalgia, the game makes no exceptions for the casual gamer at all, which I'm not complaining about. I am madly in love with that game. LBP is also a very nostalgic game, as my roommate described it; It's the first true 2d platformers on a home console in generations.
Change == bad. Oblivion was an amazing game, a work of art all around. And the Zelda series needs a change, maybe not that particular change, but something needs to be done to keep things fresh. What would you recommend to keep gamers coming back? Because many gamers, including myself, are feeling that the traditional Zelda formula needs a jump start with something fresh.

I think you hit on the key right there. Casual gamers. I'm sick of developers changing things around and re-inventing series to appeal to casual gamers. I'm not against change, as long as that change is geared to draw the interest of long time fans, not casual gamers. I'm not interested in games that have been made to appeal to people who have never picked up a controller before. Casual gamers are ruining the industry. But I suppose they're were the money is.

Precisely. They are where the money is. Just look at Nintendo and their recent success coupled with their new market direction. Casual gamers have always been around, the only difference is this time they are affecting different areas of gaming. Last generation the popular thing to complain about was how EA was pumping out crappy games for the casual gamer with their new sports games every year. Now EA has turned their act around and have the highest average score on metacritic.
Casuals have, and always will, be around. There is no escaping them unfortunately, and whatever developer is benefiting most from them, will always change their titles to appeal to them.
This is an interesting article
So a wireless Wii nunchuck hasn't already been announced as part of the Wii MotionPlus package? You know I really don't know why Nintendo is so feverishly working on these add ons for the Wii, didn't they already announce that the WiiHD is scheduled for 2011? And they're making that DS update too, the DSI or whatever, when they've also announced a DS2 for 2011 as well. Is it just me or is Nintendo just going overboard here with releasing pointless crap? I guess it makes them money, but I can't imagine people will go buy a DSI and then go buy a DS2 a little less, or possibly a little more, then a year later.
Also, Twilight Princess wasn't released that long ago, I mean how long was the wait between WW and TP? And Miyamoto has already said that the he thinks the next one will be released by late 2009? Nintendo needs to slow down and take it's time with a game like Zelda.
3 years is long enought to make a game. there probably already is a story and some dungeon designs.
thrubeingcool13
That maybe, however Zelda is really a flagship character for Nintendo, arguebly more so then Mario, and Nintendo should, and I hope they do, understand the importance of making every game in that series perfect. But even if 3 years is enough for a game is 7 years enough of a lifespan for a succesful handheld system? Is 5 years enough for a succesful home consol?
i said 3 years is enough time to make a game. i'm not sure exactly what you mean by the 7 years for a handheld and 5 for a console.thrubeingcool13
A was referencing the prospective dates for the DS2 and WiiHD that I discussed in my previous comment.

back on topic of wii motion plus now, i'm not sure if 1:1 sword fights are a possibility. the nunchuck's cord that attaches to the wiimote hinder the movement greatly. unless there is a wireless nunchuck it would be too hard to implement the sword fights.thrubeingcool13
They already do have wireless nunchuscks in store, so that's not a big problem. It also seems they can make good 1:1 sword fights, like the fencing in Wii Sports Resort
