If you said evil, I would have to disagree, and I'll tell you why.

The Gerudo come from the desert. They are all women, except for one male Gerudo born every hundred years. By the time the one who we presume to be the first Link comes along (in Ocarina of Time) that male Gerudo is Ganondorf, The King of Thieves. The Gerudo follow Ganondorf almost like a god. They do anything he orders them to do, and they view him as the only worthy man in the world. If he tells them to steal, they steal; if he tells them to kill, he kills. Ganondorf becomes evil, so doesn't that make the Gerudo evil? No, not at all.

The Gerudo come from a harsh desert. Many Gerudo die from the trials of the desert. They cannot reside in Hyrule Field: the Hylians would not allow that. The Gerudo do what they must to survive. They raid and steal. They are master thieves. Hylians both seem to fear and admire the female warriors.

Now, when Ganondorf becomes King of Evil, you think that he would allow them to move into Hyrule Field, but they are still in the desert, even when Ganondorf is king. The bridge is even cut so that no one can travel to and from the desert. No one knows who exactly cut the bridge. If it were Ganondorf, then it would seem he wants to keep them in the desert, if it wasn't, then Ganondorf doesn't seem to care anyway. Either way, the Gerudo take orders from Nabooru, the Gerudos' second-in-command. Nabooru opposes Ganondorf, and would love to see him fall for the evil things he has done. She wishes to steal his treasure, and when she receives help from Link, she is soon captured by the Twinrova sisters, Koume and Kotake. They are Gerudo witches who were Ganondorf's birth mother (as Navi says) in their combined form. They follow Ganondorf and brainwash Nabooru.

Twinrova is defeated, however, and Nabooru is freed and becomes a Sage, and she helps seal the King of Evil in the Sacred Realm. Later we see the Gerudo celebrating along with everyone else. Did the Gerudo really think Ganondorf was that great? Why would they be celebrating his downfall? They must have lost faith in him by the time Link awoke in the Temple of Time. I do not think that the Gerudo are evil as a whole.

What do you think?

I think they're just a society trying to survive.
Not evil, but not on the good side. They aren't really helping Link much. They are definitely not evil though.

Altough I couldn't agree more with the topic creator,I must say that all the races of Hyrule are similar in one perspective. They are antisocial communities, which are not interested in other races' problems until the situation effects them. So ,even though the gerudo is the only race that attacks link on sight, this can't be considered as an immoral action. The lack of morality shows within the fact that the residents can't take action until a hero shows up.This leads the innocents to suffer within the 7 year period(I'm taking reference from OoT for this) because of the ignorance and lack of communication. So I would say that there isn't a race which isn't as bad as,if not worse, then the gerudo. The gerudo at least knows to protect themselves even if they had been abandoned by their leader. So ,IMO, gerudo is the most moral race in hyrule.

Also, the Gerudo said that they wouldn't harm women or children until Ganondorf came along.

sorry, I failed to see how that can effect my point. because, imo, thieving is a result of their geographical and cultural structure, just like most of todays' races. I can't recall of them hunting men randomly and in a pointless manner. that is an opinion of course, based on a theory, therefore (unfortunately) can't be discussed properly
