Working on a new technique

Ok, so I found a tutorial that had a pretty interesting technique, so I have been trying to perfect it, problem is the tut is for photoshop, not GIMP, but I have been trying the best I can do make it work. Anyway, I made 2 sigs of Itachi, the first one was made with GIMP, and earlier today I got to use Photoshop, so I tried the same technique with Photoshop, so tell me which one looks better, and I have been trying to work on my text placement so yeah, and please don't mention the second sig render being in the middle, I know I shouldn't have done that, but I was rushed with PS

Second one the gradient map ruined it big time.

First one other than the floating head it does have potencial, keep working on this, enjoying your new stuff =D

Thanks for the comments guys, and duder it's actually really simple, brush white circles with a hard brush, then with a soft brush erase over the white circles until you get the desired result, but it was part of a tut lemme see if I can find it

take the circles from the first one off and it's perfect.

Really prefer the first one, love the circles and good flow:D Second just seems a little too monotone IMO. 

But keep up th good work looks great:D

I didn't mention it because the rest was so different (and better) than your usual that I didn't notice text :P

But yeah it's bad :P
