Nintendo reveals all-new Mario Party title coming to portable platform this winter.

Today during a Nintendo Direct video presentation, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced a new Mario Party game for 3DS. The game will launch during winter 2013.

Mario Party for 3DS includes a "tremendous variety" of mini-games, including some that use AR cards.

This is a breaking news story. Additional details will be added as they become available

The use of AR cards sounds interesting. Hopefully this installment has online play.

No which was really stupid of Nintendo. That bothered me a lot about the Wii was there were a ton of mini game collections but no one bothered to have any online mulitplayer. None of even Nintendo's first party mini game collections had online multiplayer.

I played #9 with my nephews last thanksgiving. One thing it does to mix up things (you know besides something practical like using Wiimotion plus or having online play) was instead of characters moving induvidually around the board was all 4 ride in a car, boat, etc. so instead of the object being when the vehicle makes it to the finish area, it ends and then whoever had the most stars wins. This changes up the usual game board type of gameplay many have come to know and you either love it or hate it.

Also despite being a Wii mini game collection, there isn't a ton of waggly games. Many involve the Wiimote sideways NSMB type of gameplay which boggles my mind because this is the sort of game you WANT spastic flailing and they could've used WM+ or the balance board.

^ Four in a car/boat actually is a pretty neat idea.

I'm hoping they'll finally bring online multiplayer with this game. Also, I still have yet to even play MP9, but I still plan to sometime.

That's what bugged me about a lot of these mini game collections in general, Nintendo or otherwise was no online. I'd love to play wacky party games with people online. The same goes for the Mario and Sonic Olympic games. I mean at least they had leaderboards but still if so many companies were going to waste the Wii potential making shovel ware party games, you'd think one of them would've tried to make it stand out with online play.
