100m Olympic Trials Quarterfinal

Tyson Gay got first in this with a 9.77, a US record.... but second place went to 18 year old incoming freshmen Gator WR/RB Jeff Demps with a time of 10.01, the fastest time ever recorded for prep athlete. I wonder if he'll actually play a down of football for us because I would focus on track if I were him...

The 10.01 is faster than Trindon Holliday and Demps isn't even in college yet. During the Olympics trials yesterday the broadcast went as far as calling Demps the fastest football player ever... but like I said earlier if I were him I wouldn't play football I'd stick to track but I do think his love of football will keep him playing the game.

As an 18 year old, his times are almost a half second better than what Tyson Gay was running at the same age and Gay is the face of US track now. Demps seriously has a chance to be the fastest person in America, or the world for that matter, if he keeps training. For an 18 year old what he is doing is crazy.

If I were the gators I would keep him at halfback, That speed is a rare and great asset.

Maybe the Gators have the two fastest players in college football now :D

Rainey even faster than advertised

Meyer is still getting reports from a now famous race that took place on campus a few days ago. Redshirt freshman running back Chris Rainey beat true freshman speedster Jeffrey Demps in a 40-yard dash sprint.

For perspective, Demps ran a 10.01 in the 100 meters last month at the U.S. Olympic Trials, the fastest time ever for an American teenager.

"I don't know if (Demps) can catch a ball, but he can run like hell," Meyer said. "Chris Rainey beat him in a race the other day. I wasn't there. I'd liked to have watched that. We probably could have sold 10,000 tickets."

Sounds like Meyer is already thinking about how he can get all this speed on the field at the same time.

Lol I think in NCAA Football 08, Florida FULLBACKS are faster than some teams RUNNING BACKS. Even the tight ends are fast!

Trindon Holliday ran a 10.02 with 1.8m/s wind

Jefferey Demps ran a 10.01 with 2.2m/s wind

For my assesment Demps was helped more by win = Trindon is still the faster runner.

Honestly we're talking about 1 onehundreth of a second difference which to me is completely negligible.

Both to me are completely equal so there really is no need for an argument neither civil or defensive.
