This very Thursday is the big day guys!!!!!!!!! College ball begins! There are nine big games in this extravaganza. The Big 10, the SEC, the Big 12, Mac, Conference USA, ACC,Sunbelt, the Independents and of course The Mountain West will all be represented. Since I am the Towel Boy of the Mountain West this season, I will happy to brief all of you eager beavers on the game I am covering, none other than the mighty San Diego State Aztecs who will be at home against the Miners of UTEP. This tilt goes off at 9:30 Central time. San Diego is favored by 1 1/2 points for you guys who like to play the games. Here are some notables about this game. Chuck Long is now chief of the Aztecs. He was a QB god at Iowa years ago and played for the Lions(picked #12 overall). He has run the Oklahoma offense the past 4 yrs. On the other side of the field, Mike Price heads up the Miners and the "minors" if you remember where as the Alabama Coach he was " rolling tide as fast as he could" with a couple of young ladies of dancing fame. His team was 8-1 last year and then fell apart like a soggy taco. His QB is senior Jordan Palmer. For all of you redshirts out there, he is the younger brother of Carson Palmer. Guys remember there are 8 other games besides this one and if there is one piece of advice I would care to pass along is that always watch all the Thursday night games regardless of the matchup. Secondly always watch the late Westcoast game on Saturday night. If you do just those two things along with your usual Homer viewing habits, your college ball knowledge will increase a hundred fold by season end.
