One thing ive noticed about the RE series, is that there are quite a few cancelled games in it, and surprisingly, many RE fans have never heard of seen any of these, which I find really strange, so I thought I should put this up for people unaware of them (however few or many they may be)

Resident Evil 1 for the Gameboy colour - I was surprised by this, Capcom actually decided to port the original Resident Evil to the GBC. sounds crazy, squeezing that game into a weak machine like the GBC, but Capcom tried it. The game was cancelled before it was finished, however I did find quite a few videos (all showing similar footage), that show this version, its crude and basic to say the least

Resident Evil 1.5 - This is probably the most well known cancelled RE game. originally this was meant to be Resident Evil 2 , but Capcom cancelled it when it was nearly finished, and completly revised the game. This version was gonna have Elza Walker as the main female character instead of Claire, and the game was going to be more like RE1 in its design, 2 versions were planned, one for the PS1 and one for the Sega Saturn.

This is the PS1 version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qAlyZXJm8Y

and this is the Saturn version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BjSNwJhDlw

Resident Evil 0 for the N64 - originally RE0 was meant to be on the N64, and it looks quite good, too, though it was probably a good idea to move it to the gamecube.

Resident Evil 2 for the GBA - I was surprised by this one as well, but funny enough it looks far similar to the source material then RE1 on the GBC, again it was cancelled completly (though it would have been nice to have)

there it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-htyTk-Ij3M

and finally Resident Evil 3.5 - Resident Evil 4 was the game that changed everything about the RE series , but originally it was meant to be very similar to the older games. I really like the look and atmosphere of this one.

and there they are, did anyone hear of these at all?, would you be willing to pay for these if capcom put some of them as downloadables?

because I think that unlike the other RE prototypes, RE 3.5 was cancelled relatively early.

in all honesty, I think the GBA port was probably the most impressive, I mean 3D on th GBA?, you can imagine RE2 on the Saturn, that makes sense, but on the GBA, they did an amazing job

Is 3.5 the one where the video shows leon fighting some ghost like thing a few times throughout it. Then at the end it posseses him, I saw this once then never found it again so I don't know that much.

I don't know if this counts, but Rebecca was first meant to be a black man who talk like Eddie Murphy and would have been the comical relief

Yeah, I'm glad they changed that.

apparently in RE 1.5, both the shop owner and the policeman were supposed to come with you instead of die

I actually think it would have been a bad idea, the party would have been to large and you would lose the sense of being all alone surrounded by monsters

I still think 1.5 looked pretty good. Birkin looked a helluva lot scarier, plus they incorporated his whole "SHERRY!" screams into Nemesis in RE3. The graphics looked better too.

I'm still pleased with the result of RE2 though. Also I hope they bring back the control scheme for RE 3.5 at a later date.

I would love to get my hands on the Saturn version of RE1.5, alot of people said the saturn version would be worse, but judging from the clips, it looks identical.

I have a feeling the only reason RE2 made it to the N64 was because the Saturn died and they cancelled the Saturn port.

it would have been easier to get the game intact on the saturn then on n64

RE2 was ported to the N64 for those who didn't own a play station to play the game at the time. They also give the game improvements and advancements like the all new high resolution mode, the "Ex" files, and full stereo
surround sound.

My first RE game was RE2 on N64 and i enjoyed playing it ALOT

ive got it, and I think that overall its a mixed bag, the characters look better, but the backgrounds were kinda blurry.

I thought that at any rate the best version was the dreamcast version, but thats kinda unfair a comparison

well I have both the N64 and Dreamcast versions

overall the dreamcast version seems to run faster and more smoothly, also the backgrounds are sharper, but overall its the same game

ah resi evil 3.5, imagine what could have been. 5 may have been a much better game and the fans would have got what they want. but i guess if that happened then we would never have experienced 4.

actually if 3.5 did come out and the 5 came out the way it is i think people would have appreciated it a lot more as it would have been a new idea like 4 was.
