I have started watching Stargate from the beginning but I have missed a lot of stuff in the middle of the show.  I noticed that Teal'c always used his staff weapon but in the new season he doesn't use it anymore.  Did something happen to it?  Sorry if this has been asked before.

probably cos he is now used to the p90 and pther military issue weapons plus their is not that many jaffa to fight now so he dsent feel the need to use it. although i would like to see him with his staff in some episodes

the Zat gun was in the episode with the many SG-1 teams and i think a few others, but i agree we dont see it enough. why would it matter that they not fighting Jaffa? its stilla good weapon against other things.

I can't remember witch episode it was but, Jack said that the staff is more of a weapon to scare people than a fighting weapon.

That was in the episode when they tried to give P90's to the rebel Jffar.

SPOILER (I think)

I kept on thinking in the new bug episode wouldn't one Zat blast kill lodes of bugs. I looked but they didn't seem to be carrying any.

Well, I still like the staff weapon.  I think it was part of what made Teal'c unique on the show.  I mean everyone uses regular earth weapons but then Teal'c is the one SG-1 member whose just that little bit different and made things more interesting in combat.  I always thought it was cool when they were fighting and then Teal'c is there shooting his staff weapon.  I hope it comes back.

I always enjoy seeing teal'c carry a big staff cannon lol.  Also with the last new episode i was thinking that if they had the staff then teal'c could have continuely blasted them and the ground and not run out of ammo.

definitely miss the staff weapon.  i think it has become more of a symbol of their culture than a practical weapon.  i remember back to season 1 'bloodlines' when bra'tac blasted a ring of fire at the gate.  that kind of skill would be useful against anything, except the replicators of course.

In the episode where there's loads of SG1s, I think one of the teams ( the one with the dessert clothing) Teal'c is using that gun.

Probly cause he figured out that our weapons have more firepower and are all-around better than staff weapons.

The reason the goauld used staff weapons was to scare the enemy

The Teal'c character is evolving.  He is becoming more human, that he was in the early seasons.

I agree, the episode writers and director are trying to show (subtly) how Teal'c is becoming more and more earth like. This issue has come up in recent episodes, where Teal'c is seen as a human more than a jaffa by his own people. And the council and several jaffa have mentioned it to him.

The only thing missing is that Teal'c needs a home on Earth outside of the SGC. I know they had an episode and it all went wrong, but Mitchell would probably force Teal'c to get an apartment.

i miss the staff weapon i think they should bring it back. it almost defines teal'c as a character. not that the gold symbol on his forehead doesn't either, but the staff weapon is more prominent.

Yeah, I don't think he will get rid of it, remember in that episode that he got infected by that strange bug, he said the symbol represented enslavement to false gods.

Yeah I remember they said that they carve the symbol and then pour the gold into it.  So I think they would have a hard time getting rid of it anyways without completely destroying his forehead.  Also I just saw the episode "The Scourge" and I was thinking if Teal'c had that staff weapon they never would have been in that horrible situation.  Think of all the bugs he could have blasted to bits if he had it.
