1. I too was a big fan of Jonas, he was a much needed addition to the show. That being said, I'm also really glad that Daniel is back, because I still like his character.

2. I personally am not upset about Richard Dean Anderson leaving the show. Yeah, it will be nice to see him cameo now and then if he agrees to it, but if he doesn't, I don't mind. I think season 9 has gotten off to a great start - this is the dynamic that the show lost a couple of seasons ago. I've loved Stargate even recently, but I'm really excited about this new team. And FRANKLY, if the show moves on to season 10 and beyond, and Amanda Tapping wants to quit, I would LOVE to see the character of VALA replace here. These first couple of episodes have been superb, I REALLY like them. Robert Cooper jokingly called this Stargate: The Next Generation, and it works. I hope this reinvents Stargate for many seasons to come.

If Amanda Tapping quit then Vala couldnt really just replace here. Carter was the genius on the team that could always use math or science to figure things out. Vala is far too greedy and is not techically gifted as Carter. The reason that Jonas worked soo well was because he was a very quick study and was very willing and intrested to learn other cultures and languages and was also a scientist himself.
