Yay new StarGate. Permiers Oct. 2nd in US and Canada and Oct. 6th in the UK.
WARNING SPOILERS !!!
Im not that excited yet lol. Dont really want to since it could be a let down and who knows, they could cancel for after this season lol.KurushioOr they could go to commercial and come back to a rerun of Ghosthunters :P
I heard RDA was in 5 or so episodes, could be wrong tho. Anyone else feel the little sex sceen was a bit out of place. It just felt weird to me.shockwave04I agree, it just seemed slapped on... like hey, look we have sex in Stargate now!
I didn't really understand their relationship either... he doesn't even know her name (or so it seemed) and they just decided to get busy with it right before he meets the senator? Strange.
Anyway...
The Good: I liked the music, the concept is promising, and it takes place in the Stargate Universe!
The Bad: Very choppy intro, they could have integrated the flashbacks throughout other episodes of the show and I think that would have been much better.
-It seems too much like BSG, and so far there is no sign of aliens or anything interesting like that -- the impression I'm under is that it is mainly focused on the drama between the characters, and not exploration and sci-fi goodness.
The Meh: Right now a lot of the characters are annoying: the one guy who has a temper problem, the other guy who took command acts like a little kid.. the scientist shows little emotion... I'm just not digging a lot of the characters right now... I actually liked the gamer guy, which is surprising because I thought I would hate him...
Overall, I think the pilot episode could have been better, but I'm not giving up on it yet because I see potential in this show. If they manage to get some deep scif-fi storylines between all the currently-kiddy drama, then it could turn out well.
So far so good, nothing exceptional but for me it doesn't have the stargate vibe yet. I agree with shock, the sex was just thrown in there, totally out of the bsg book and from what i've read there will probably be more of that stuff in this series.
Comparing the two spin-offs (sga and sgu) I would say sga had a much better intro to the series, it felt more connected to the stargate series but I guess we have to give this series some time.
Not sure what to make of the gamer guy, I like his character but could'nt the writers have come up with a more believable back story. A guy solve a puzzle in a game and now the military want to tell him everything about the stargate program and even take him off world ?
I think the ending sets it up for us of what we might expect to see future episodes. Every now and then the ship drops out of FTL travel, they explore the planet, maybe meet aliens, replenish supplies and carry on on their journey to whereever. With a whole load of character driven drama.
Still gonna what the show after all its the same writers who gave a sg1 and sga !

I think that was him trying to hide the relationship they have.

I think it feels strange to me because I'm use to the 15 seasons of vanilla StarGate

They probably brought him along because he was able to solve the math problem that Dr. Rush couldn't, and that in its self seemed like he will be usefull
*arrives late to the party*
Much to my surprise I will be regularly watching this show. There were still some things that I wasn't satisfied with (does Stargate really need sex scenes like that?) but it was surprisingly good with some decent characters (the main military types suck, but Carlyle excels at his role, and that one who was on trial is interesting to say the least) some good environments and effects, a weak (but what isn't in Stargate) story, and enough distance from both series that it doesn't fell clingy or like a me-too show.
Probably my biggest problems are the lack of enemy (I hate the fight-for-survival crap) and that they threw in no cameos form SGA, who is quickly turning into what was the red-headed stepchild of SciFi, whoops, SyFy.
Are the days of a 'regular sg team' going through the stargate on mission now over ? :|

I don't think so it looked like a team at the end but I doubt Rush will go every time
[QUOTE="Joesocwork"]Oh, and I hated all of those commercials every ten minutes!shockwave04
Wecome to SyFy lol
Know what was worse? Having to watch it on SyFy.com! Man, they hit you with 30 sec commercials with the volume cranked up every five minutes, on't even bother to strategically place them. That said, it is still better than NBC's, ABC's, CBS's, FOX's, and Hulu (only because my school's ISP is a cable company that cuts your bandwith drastically if you're on Hulu.com).
When I saw that scene I was a bit like, What the heck is this? Glad the folks weren't around. I'd wonder if I was watching Stargate or my reciever switched by accident again to an episode of Sex and the city. The frontal scene in SG1 doesn't quite compare in my opinion. This was really thrown in and quite out of place indeed. SGU should stick with the PG rating.

Also, pretty obvious we are going to end up with a traitor, since Carter made a point of mentioning "How did the Lucian Alliance (really? We're running away from THEM now?) find out about this base?"
Wouldnt the Hammond be able to beat 3 Hatak motherships fairly easy? I know it doesnt have the asgard upgrades (which i dont quite get either since im sure they could get direction on how to build them lol) but they still almost lost I wonder if the enemy will be another paracite like one. Technically the Wraith were paracites because they needed humans to feed on and even the Ori were kinda a paracites feeding off of belief of people.
Cant wait to see the technology and ships of the new foes as well.

I don't we're going to see a single unified foe at least this season.
