I only remember seeing Kurt Russel in it. Maybe it was an episode with a flash back and they remade part of it?

There was going to be three movies but MGM wanted to make it into a show, and the orignal creators did not want to have anything to do with the show.

Me too. It has way more character and plot depth. Plus, the characters in the show seem more real.

I also believe Kurt Russel was offered to play Jack in the series but he turned it down. Im betting he would have wished he would have joined. He really hasnt done anything good since Soldier i think and that was just an alright movie.

Good thing he refused, he wouldn't have done as good as RDA.

just to revive this topic:

i bought the extended cut of the movie last nite.  it is right at 2 hrs and i think it just has deleted scenes added in and some look a little rough.  the special features include a featurette (~20 min) about aliens visiting earth and a director commentary.   the packaging had version 2 on it (not sure what this entails)?   the only thing that pissed me off is the only subtitle available is spanish.  i like to be able to double check what i hear.    overall a good experience, but slightly dissappointing in a few aspects.

There are 2 versions of the movie, theatrical and the extended version. The extended edition has around 8-10 minutes of cut footage added back into the original film. There is also an Ultimate Edition DVD (director's cut ) of the movie. It's the same as the extended edition film wise but the soundtrack was redone into DTS-ES 6.1 & Dolby Digital EX 5.1 . The sound in this version is absolutely amazing and I totally recommend it to any fan or movie collector.

that is actually the one i have (the ultimate edition).  i have a crappy 19" tv so i cannot really enjoy the sound.  i will say i enjoyed the featurette and want to buy the book 'chariots of the gods' which talks about possible alien encounters in the past.  about it being made in 1994, i bought 'jeremiah johnson' as well (1972) and it was decent quality with a "making of" extra.   a bloopers section would be fun.
