Hans Zimmer is my personal pick. Nearly everything he composes sounds great. Howard Shore is my second choice, particularly for his work in Lord of the Rings/Hobbit and in Martin Scorsese films.
Unfortunately, I don't know all that many movie composers by name. I do enjoy John Williams and Howard Shore a lot though. Apparently Philip Glass is a movie composer as well, and I like some of his stuff (though not necessarily his movie compositions).
