I mean by a lot, whether they change styles(AFI, Kid Rock, etc), or change/lose significant band members(AC/DC, Black Sabbath, etc).

I don't really get bothered even if I don't like the direction a favorite band of mine is going in. If I don't care to listen to them anymore I just move on to other stuff I do like. Three Days Grace recently losing their singer and many going on about how they'll suck and they should quit now even before they hear new music had me think about this topic.

BTW, not trying to say other band members aren't important. But more often than not if say the bass guitar changes for a band it's not very noticeable unless you follow them/go to shows/etc.

I don't mind it, I kinda prefer it at times, in the sense that when a band does so, it's usually because that's what they want to do, and like or dislike what their style changes to, I can't hate a band for making the music they want to do. There are also some bands and artists I like for the fact they seem to be capable of coming out with so many different sounds.

I find it's a shame when a band loses members, but tusually when it gets to such a point, it's for the best, plus not every parting is on bad terms.

If it goes well: Yay

If it doesn't go well: Nay

Going well means Katatonia, from Brave Murder Day to Discouraged Ones.

Not going well means My Dying Bride going from awesome Death/Doom-y goodness to over the top Gothic Doom. Both aspects are good, but the former is much better.

If I like the changes then I'm satisfied, and if I don't then I'm disappointed and I listen to something else. I don't have any strong opinions on it really. It probably helps that I'll listen to almost any genre or subgenre.

When the sound changes, I don't mind if they try something different with each album as long as it's familiar enough for me to say "Oh yeah, this came from this band."

Same thing when it comes to line-up changes. People may complain and compare which band member is the best, but I'll still be listening to their music either way.

It all depends on the direction they take. Often times I'll just think of the band's music in different time periods, and I'll enjoy that specific time in the bands music differently than I would the other. Sometimes though, the change is awful and I'll just disregard their newer stuff, unless they go back to making music I enjoy again.

To me it depends on how they change it. Usually, a little bit of change can be good but too much can often be bad.
