Ghost Rider existed long before GoW did as a comics series, so I would say no for the most part...

The thing i dont like about Ghost Rider is that the reaction time is a bit slower than God of War.

absoloutly! i total rip off for both GOW and DMC! and yet it sucked! (good thing i read the review so i didn't buy it) that game robbs even the upgrading system! down to the "sound efects" of filling up your upgrade!!! more than one move in his combos and air attacks are COPY and PASTE from gow to ghostrider! it also robbed from DMC the background, the style, the style bar, the health bars, the transition from one room to another, the opponents.... flying coloured orbs=gow heavy whipping fiery chains=gow upgrading system=gow mini-game finishing moves=gow and that's all that was revealed in a review! what did the game cmoe up from it's own? the bike missions. which are officially the worst feature of the game. i didn't have high hopes for this game, but i didn't imagine it to drop that low

Dusty114

Sure it made some obvious passes at God of War and Devil May Cry but what do you expect from a game based on a movie?  They had to try and make the game passable so they could either try and make a **** game by deadline or "cut corners" creatively by not just drawing inspiration but taking directly from 2 of the most successful action/adventure games.  Rip-off...a strong term for something that really didn't do that well nor make nearly enough rips to be deemed something so harsh.

Thought about it and decided against it.  The clips/reviews were enough for me.

I agree. A lot of people kept saying we were just a DMC ripoff...so I feel for the Ghost Rider Developers now that all the reviews are dinging them for having similar elements in thier game. I am sure they did, like all developers do, borrow from gow....but I think that is cool. I haven't played the game yet, but I am going to try and check it out sometime. cory

I think that because the devlopers were stuck with a restrictive movie license and given the nature of the license, the game had to follow the style of games such as GoW and DMC, those games were mentioned because those were the good ones that really did something to the genre. I doubt a Ghost Rider game that follows the movie will be put on the same level as God of War but comparisons will be made.

To be honest, after playing DMC3 I think you guys *SCEA* totally b**** slapped it with God of War.. I mean, it's a totally different game.

~Check this out, Cory:

oh i wouldn't suggest that; that game got a 4/10 from GS and a 4.2 or somethign outta 10 from IGN. a waste of time and money.

In Ghost Rider, i do think it was great of the developers of Ghost Rider to use some of the ideas of God of War and DMC, but after playing the game, it seems that the moves that were added are closely identical to the character Kratos. There is one move i remember playing Ghost Rider where he spins the chain around like a hellicopter, which is somewhat similar to what Kratos could do with the Athena Blades in the God of War II demo.

I know, it sucks but also they added the move where you know Kratos does that one move where slams the blades down, they made a move like that to for Ghost Rider.

Also for corybarlog, I never thought of God of War being a "rip-off" of Devil May Cry, in fact the game seeems to different from Devil May Cry because i thought the character Dante uses guns and stuff, while the character Kratos uses the Blades of Chaos (Athena) and the Blade of Artemis and plus including the hammer he gets from the Barbarian King.

Yeah it does actually, once u beat the game you get to unlock most of the cheats, even invincibility while beating it on easy. So when you go through it again, on hard or whatever you can go through it having invincibility unlocked.

But for some reason he always looks like he is alway high on something or always tired or whatever, the only movie i liked him in was Face-Off, but back on topic here I wonder what made the people of the Ghost Rider developers decide to use the gameplay of God of War and DMC.

Road Rash? Like for Sega Genesis? That game owns! I used to play it every day with my friends until I got a Dreamcast. The best party game before 3D graphics =D ~ Also, as a more on-topic note. I think that it is kind of a rip-off, but there isn't much you can do about it, being an awful movie title and all, so its acceptable to me. If there's any game that's a ripoff of GoW, I think it would probably be the evil section of PoP two thrones. ~ For Cage, I think he's a pretty good actor too. Now, I'm not a particularly big fan of his, but I think he generally does a good job. Its not that I don't think he's good, just that I don't particularly like his style. Some things he was good in would be National Treasure and The Rock, those are probably my two favorites of his. Windtalkers (I think that's what it was called) was pretty good too. ~As an off-topic note, I'm kind of confused about the leveling up system for Gamespot. Does it only update overnight or what? Because today I've made a decent amount of posts and wrote a review and got a grand total of 0.00% of a level, so I'm thinking it's not an up-to-the-minute type of system?

Ghost Rider was not that good of a movie, not due to Nicholas Cage, but more so to the way the movie turned out, Nicholas Cage was alright as Ghost Rider. I think the movie could have been better if it would have focused more on the comics of Marvel. As for the game, I do think they could have gone their own way about Ghost Rider instead using aspects from God of War and Devil May Cry towards their game.

Yes! Road Rash for the Genesis, was awesome, me and my bro played it all the time, sadly we nevered owned it, only rented it like everyweek for some odd reason. Genesis still is one of my favorite systems...On Topic yeah Ghost Rider was clearly imitating the GOW/any 3D action game, but how many games are coming out that are completely unique.

That's a very valid point. There really aren't many games coming out that are really inventive anymore. I know that its not completely the developers' faults, a lot of the good ideas have been done already, but there still is room for new ideas. The problem is that whenever something as popular as GoW comes out, it's sure to be imitated by anybody looking to make some quick money. ~And to DMC, yeah. Genesis pwns. (Also, what's that font in your sig?)
